It’s understood about 300 pro-refugee protesters were peacefully gathered on Bourke St when about 20 people — dressed completely in black and with their faces covered — confronted them around 6pm. In footage shared on TikTok by a refugee group, police can be seen facing those dressed in black, as chants of “refugees are welcome here, Nazis are not” rang out from the pro-refugee demonstrators. The group was clad entirely in black. Picture: TikTok/permanentvisaforrefugees Police were forced to deploy capsicum spray.
