Diesmal verziert: Ein gläsernes Polizeihäuschen, das nun verdächtig nach Piranha-Aquarium aussieht. Der bekannte Graffitikünstler Banksy enthüllt seit Montag täglich ein neues Kunstwerk in London. Nun hat er seinen »Zoo« diese Woche komplett gemacht: Am Sonntag veröffentlichte er ein unkommentiertes Foto seines neuesten Werks auf Instagram. Auf die Scheiben eines Glashäuschens der Polizei in der Londoner City malte der Künstler vor blauem Hintergrund Fischschwärme. Das Häuschen, das einer Telefonzelle ähnelt und die Aufschrift »City of London Police« trägt, wirkt dadurch wie ein Aquarium. Die Londoner Polizei bestätigte: »Wir haben Kenntnis von der kriminellen Beschädigung einer Polizeibox in Ludgate Hill.« Beamte vor Ort fotografierten die bemalte Kabine. Das Wachhäuschen ist eines von vielen, die in den Neunzigerjahren von Polizeibeamten aufgestellt wurden, um den Verkehr zu überwachen und Anschläge der IRA zu verhindern.

Gewalt gegen Asylbewerber : Mehr als 500 Übergriffe im ersten Halbjahr

Nötigung, Körperverletzung, Volksverhetzung: Immer wieder werden Asylbewerber in Deutschland zum Ziel verbaler oder körperlicher Angriffe. Auffällig sind regionale Unterschiede. Die Polizei hat im ersten Halbjahr 2024 deutschlandweit 519 Übergriffe auf Flüchtlinge und Asylbewerber registriert. Das geht aus einer Antwort der Bundesregierung auf eine Kleine Anfrage der Gruppe Die Linke im Bundestag hervor, die der “Neuen Osnabrücker Zeitung” (NOZ) vorliegt. Konkret geht es demnach um Straftaten wie Volksverhetzung, Nötigung und gefährliche Körperverletzung. Bei diesen Vorfällen, die sich außerhalb von Flüchtlingsunterkünften abspielten, wurden 46 Menschen verletzt, darunter sechs Kinder, heißt es in der Antwort, die auch der Deutschen Presse-Agentur vorliegt. Der größte Teil der Übergriffe – insgesamt 456 – wird von der Polizei der rechten Szene zugeordnet. Hinzu kommen laut Statistik 69 Angriffe auf Flüchtlingsunterkünfte. Im ersten Halbjahr 2023 registrierten die Ermittler 1.155 Übergriffe auf Flüchtlinge, im gesamten letzten Jahr 2.450. Nach Informationen der NOZ liegt ein regionaler Schwerpunkt der Taten in Sachsen und Thüringen, wo am 1. September Landtagswahlen stattfinden. Demnach entfielen von den bundesweit 286 Angriffen auf Flüchtlinge im zweiten Quartal 2024 die meisten auf Sachsen (41) und Thüringen (35). Danach folgen Bayern (31), Niedersachsen (30) und Brandenburg (29).

A lawsuit claims that corporate advertisers avoided X as part of a vast left-wing conspiracy. In recent weeks, in his prolific activity on X, the social network he owns, Elon Musk has shared a deepfake of Kamala Harris, calling it “amazing.” He’s shared inflammatory posts about England’s anti-immigrant riots while opining that “civil war is inevitable.” He’s fended off calls from five Democratic secretaries of state to reform Grok, X’s AI bot, after it shared false electoral information. All of this follows years of stalling engagement on the platform and a broader decline under his ownership, as advertisers fled a site newly-receptive to racist pseudoscience, antisemitism, and restoring noxious figures’ accounts. Their departure may have been hastened by Musk advising advertisers, twice, to “go fuck yourself,” during an on-stage New York Times interview. Or it may be because Musk used his privileged position, as a study released Thursday said, to become one of the site’s mostly widely-seen purveyors of election disinformation, racking up 1.2 billion views on the subject between January and July. (…) According to Brian Hauss, a senior staff attorney with the ACLU’s Speech, Privacy, and Technology Project, Musk “is clearly outraged at the precipitous drop in advertising dollars since he’s taken over… Instead of owning up to the fact that its the change in the content moderation policies that he’s instituted and take responsibility for that, he’s trying to point the finger.” The attention-grabbing antitrust lawsuit accuses the World Federation of Advertisers (WFA) and the Global Alliance for Responsible Media, a WFA project, of engaging in an illegal group boycott against X. The suit specifically names several WFA alliance members, including CVS Health, Mars, Orsted, and Unilever. While the WFA declined a request to comment, according to its website, GARM was founded after the Christchurch mass shooting, when the killer live streamed the attack on Facebook. “This followed a slew of high-profile cases where brands’ advertisements appeared next to illegal or harmful content,” which, the site explains, spurred the initiative’s launch. “For advertisers who have invested heavily in these platforms, the danger of seeing their brands next to harmful content has become a major issue,” a GARM FAQ, which has been pulled down in the last two days, read. “No one wants to be inadvertently funding people intent on causing damage to society.”

It would be brutal, costly, and likely illegal. This election cycle, former President Donald Trump has made one campaign promise the most prominent: Mass deportation. It is a long-standing vow. In 2016, Trump said he would deport the 11 million undocumented immigrants living in the United States. Once in the White House, he ordered sweeping worksite raids, enacted a ban on travelers from Muslim-majority countries, and deliberately separated migrant families, many of whom have yet to be reunited. But thanks to outside resistance, internal opposition, sanctuary policies, legal guardrails, and sheer ineptitude, the Trump administration removed fewer than 1 million people from the country—far behind the number Barack Obama deported during his first four years in office. In a second term, Trump has pledged to fulfill his promise and conduct “the largest domestic deportation operation in American history.” His acolytes, led by hardliner Stephen Miller, have spent years devising legal workarounds to prevent their extreme proposals from being curtailed or killed in the courts. This time around, they plan to invoke an infamous 18th-century wartime law, deploy the National Guard, and build massive detention camps—and intend on reshaping the federal bureaucracy to ensure it happens, drafting executive orders and filling the administration with loyalists who will quickly implement the policies. “No one’s off the table,” said Tom Homan, the former acting director of US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) under Trump. “If you’re in the country illegally, you are a target.”

An Yle probe has uncovered the prominent role played by a Finnish man on a Telegram channel fuelling the anti-immigrant riots in the UK. A young Finnish man with a background in neo-Nazi activities has played a prominent online role in the organisation of anti-immigrant riots in towns and cities across the UK over the past two weeks, an Yle investigation has found. (…) The riots are usually arranged via social media, especially the instant messaging service Telegram, with one of the most prominent such groups co-administered by the Finnish man at the centre of Yle’s investigation. Yle discovered the man’s identity and tracked him down to an apartment building in the south of the country. He is in his twenties and has run a neo-Nazi channel on Telegram. Yle is not publishing the man’s name because he has not been convicted of a serious crime nor, based on the information available at the time of publication, is he currently suspected of any. Finnish neo-Nazi shared arson tips The estimated 14,000 members of the ‘Southport Wake Up’ group on Telegram planned tactics and outlined ‘targets’ — such as immigration-related charities, advice centres and solicitors — before the channel was closed down. The Finnish neo-Nazi was a co-administrator of the group as well as a regular contributor. One of his posts shared instructions on how to commit arson, which originated from a Russian-Ukrainian neo-Nazi group, according to the British anti-fascist research group Red Flare. “Something fun for you to read,” the Finnish man wrote when he shared the arson instruction file. He also gave the group members advice on protecting their identities as well as participating in discussions about the selection of so-called targets (…) Yle’s investigation also revealed that the Finnish man has for years run a Telegram channel used to spread Nazi ideology. On this channel, he claimed that he does not encourage people to commit violence or terrorism, but at the same time, he urges the destruction of “the accursed Jews”. He also calls himself a National Socialist and he has previously published posts praising Adolf Hitler. In one video, he speaks as he is walking around Helsinki synagogue. (…) His Telegram channel has more than 300 followers from a range of different countries. He is also active on platforms such as Gab and Odysee, as well as having at least five accounts on X, formerly Twitter. In addition to Nazi-related material, he has also published Hamas propaganda videos.

The user was also active in PA leader Mark Collett’s main Telegram chat prior to its deletion. Posts by the user have been shared by key figures in PA including Yorkshire regional organiser Sam Melia, former national fitness officer Kristofer Kearney and longtime member Darren Harrison (aka “Saint Harrison”).

Children as young as nine are being radicalised by their far-right relatives, a reformed neo-Nazi has warned. Nigel Bromage, who was involved in far-right groups for two decades but now runs a deradicalisation charity, told The Independent the youngest person that his organisation has supported was a boy who was using neo-Nazi references after being radicalised by his older brother. Discussing the recent explosion of violence, he warned the far right is radicalising lay people to use as “pawns” to perpetrate violence and destruction. Extremists have managed to get people to believe the misinformation and lies they are pushing and mobilise them as people “feel voiceless and unheard”, he added. (…) The 59-year-old said the child’s older brother became involved in the movement via extreme right-wing forums – explaining his organisation had helped both brothers leave the far right. Nazism is built on the notion the “struggle is from the cradle to the grave”, Mr Bromage said. He added: “When babies are born, they are dedicated to Adolf Hitler and national socialism and they will be brought up believing that they have to protect the white race and there is an ongoing war against the system. “By the time they are five or six, sadly, they are pretty much indoctrinated into being against the system and being against people of different ethnicities.” The Exit Hate Trust takes self-referrals as well as referrals from friends and family. Mr Bromage said the trust talks to couples involved in far-right groups, adding it tends to be the man in a racist or extreme right-wing organisation when then gets their girlfriend or wife involved.
