A Tucson, Ariz., man has been charged in connection with 764, a digital network of suspected predators using social media to blackmail children into hurting themselves and others for online bragging rights. Baron Cain Martin, 21, was charged with 29 counts, including conspiring to provide material support to terrorists; conspiring to kill, kidnap or maim persons in a foreign country; five counts of producing child sex abuse material (CSAM); 11 counts of distributing CSAM; three counts of coercing and enticing minors to engage in sexual activity; three counts of cyberstalking; animal crushing and distribution of animal crush videos; conspiracy to commit wire fraud; and participating in a child exploitation enterprise. Martin is accused of being the leader of 764, referred to as a criminal organization of what the Department of Justice called “Nihilistic Violent Extremists.” “Members of 764 seek to desensitize young people to violence and break down societal norms regarding violence,” a statement from the Justice Department reads. “They normalize the possession, production, and sharing of explicit CSAM and gore material to corrupt and groom their victims toward future violence, gain notoriety among other members of the network, and spread fear for the purpose of accelerating chaos under the 764 ideology with an aim toward the disruption of society.” Martin is accused of assisting terrorists “to carry out a conspiracy to kill or maim a person in a foreign country,” the statement continued. In September 2022, he allegedly conspired with others to coerce and direct a person outside the U.S. to maim and kill themself. Eight of the nine victims Martin allegedly victimized were between the ages of 11 and 15, according to the Justice Department.

The indictment unsealed Thursday adds 26 more charges, alleging that he was deeply involved in a “sadistic and masochistic” conspiracy to “systematically and methodically target” vulnerable teenagers who can be pushed into cutting themselves with sharp objects, creating sexually explicit and gore-filled videos and photos, torturing animals, or even killing themselves — all while on camera. According to the indictment, while using 15 different monikers, Martin hosted and ran “group chats” associated with 764 on social media platforms, controlling access to them and making demands of victims, some of whom were extorted into participating.  The indictment cites nine specific victims who were allegedly targeted by Martin, ranging in age from 11 to 18. In 2022, he allegedly forced a 13-year-old girl overseas to carve one of his online monikers — “Convict” — and other symbols on her body, causing “permanent disfigurement.” And, live on a video call with 15 others, he allegedly forced the girl to let her family dog attack her family’s hamster, and then he and the others made the victim stomp on the hamster’s head and feed it to the dog, while also recording it to share with even more people, the indictment says. Also in 2022, after Martin got into an online dispute with another 13-year-old girl, he allegedly threatened to kill her grandmother — vowing that it would “send a message” — and he offered to pay someone $3,000 to commit the murder, according to the indictment and other court documents. He also allegedly “conducted a live extortion” of an 18-year-old overseas, who, after being repeatedly told to kill herself, was forced to cut a symbol into her forehead — after which Martin then allegedly shared a photo online of the girl’s bloody face. Die ukrainische Armee vergibt an seine Drohnenpiloten für erfolgreiche Missionen Belohnungspunkte. Dafür wiederum können die Soldaten in einem Online-Shop neue Waffen kaufen. Krieg oder Videospiel? Die ukrainischen Streitkräfte belohnen erfolgreiche Drohnenpiloten innerhalb eines digitalen Bewertungssystems mit Punkten, die sie wiederum in einem Online-Shop gegen Waffen eintauschen können. Gamification heißt das Prinzip aus dem Videospielbereich. Dabei werden meist als monoton empfundene Spielmechaniken mit Belohnungspunkten oder Top-Platzierungen in Ranglisten honoriert, um die Motivation zu steigern oder das Engagement zu erhöhen. Das gleiche Prinzip macht sich nun auch die ukrainische Armee zu eigen, wie unter anderem die britische Tageszeitung „The Guardian“ berichtete. Der stellvertretende Ministerpräsident der Ukraine und gleichermaßen Minister für digitale Transformation, Mychajlo Fedorow, berichtete dem Medium, dass mittlerweile 400 ukrainische Drohnen-Einheiten an der digitalen Punktejagd teilnehmen. Noch im August waren es gerade einmal 95 Einheiten. Entsprechend habe sich der Wettbewerb zu einem wahren „Viralhit“ entwickelt, berichtete Fedorow der Zeitung. Das Gamification-Programm wurde als sogenanntes „Army of Drones Bonus System“ zunächst den ukrainischen Drohnen-Einheiten zur Verfügung gestellt. Wegen des großen Erfolgs soll das Belohnungssystem nun auch auf Aufklärungs-, Artillerie- und Logistikeinheiten ausgeweitet werden, kündigte Digitalminister Fedorow an. Wie funktioniert Gamification in der ukrainischen Armee? Drohnenpiloten erhalten für verschiedene Missionen oder das Absolvieren einer Aufgabe Punkte. Diese wiederum können sie in dem ukrainischen Online-Shop „Brave1“ gegen Drohnen, Modifikationen und anderes Drohnenzubehör, autonome Fahrzeuge oder auch weitere Waffen eingetauscht werden. In Bestenlisten werden außerdem die erfolgreichsten Einheiten gelistet, aktuell stehen etwa Teams wie „Achilles“ und „Phoenix“ in den Rankings ganz oben. „Je mehr Infanteristen man tötet, desto mehr Drohnen bekommt man, um noch mehr Infanteristen zu töten“, sagte Fedorow dem „Guardian“. Mittlerweile habe sich das System „zu einer Art sich selbst verstärkendem Kreislauf“ entwickelt. Es sei bei den Drohneneinheiten „sehr beliebt geworden“, betonte der Digitalminister. „Alle Streitkräfte wissen davon. Es gibt einen Wettbewerb um Punkte, mit denen man Drohnen, elektronische Kampfsysteme und andere Dinge erhalten kann, die bei der Kriegsführung helfen.“

Jewish and Catholic faith leaders condemned a Halloween parade float that carried a replica of the gate to the Nazi concentration camp at Auschwitz as the designer behind it apologized, saying he made it “with no ill intent.” The replica gate, topped with the sign, “Arbeit macht frei” (work will set you free), was included on the float made for Saint Joseph Catholic School in Hanover for a parade Thursday. Hanover is in a rural area about 50 miles (80 kilometers) northwest of Baltimore. Nazi German forces murdered over a million people at the Auschwitz site in southern Poland between 1940 and 1945. Most of their victims were Jews killed on an industrial scale in gas chambers, but victims also included Poles, Roma, Soviet prisoners of war, gay people and others. A video of the parade shows the float, towed by a pickup truck, go through the central square in Hanover, decorated with pumpkins, ghosts and a sign reading “SHAM ROCK-N-ROLL,” as “Tutti Frutti” by Little Richard plays in the background. About a dozen kids and some adults, many dressed in green, walked beside it as the parade commentator urged spectators to cheer. The sign was at the back of the float. “It wasn’t like people threw tomatoes at them,” said Matthew Jackson, a Hanover resident and longtime advocate for equality and social justice. “I think a lot of people didn’t know what it meant. But that doesn’t take away the harm of it.” The Catholic bishop whose territory includes the school, the Rev. Timothy C. Senior in Harrisburg, issued a written apology on Saturday. “The inclusion of this image — one that represents the horrific suffering and murder of millions of innocent people, including six million Jews during the Holocaust — is profoundly offensive and unacceptable,” Senior wrote. “While the original, approved design for this float did not contain this imagery, it does not change the fact that this highly recognizable symbol of hate was included.” The Jewish Federation of Greater Harrisburg condemned the float’s display, saying the depiction of the Auschwitz gate is never acceptable outside of an educational setting.

Bertelsmann-Studie zum Wahlkampf – AfD und Linke profitieren von Algorithmen

Vor der Bundestagswahl umwarben die Parteien junge Wähler vor allem auf Social Media. Laut einer Studie unterschied sich die Sichtbarkeit dabei stark: Die Nutzer erreichten öfter Botschaften der politischen Ränder.Die AfD und die Linke haben während des vergangenen Bundestagswahlkampfs am meisten von den Algorithmen der Plattformen TikTok, X, Instagram und YouTube profitiert. Zu diesem Ergebnis kommt eine Untersuchung der Universität Potsdam in Kooperation mit der Bertelsmann Stiftung.Während die AfD einen Anteil von 21,5 Prozent aller hochgeladenen Videos unter offiziellen Parteiaccounts aufwies, wurden diese jungen Nutzern (21-25 Jahre) laut der Studie mit 37,4 Prozent fast doppelt so häufig angezeigt. Die Linke habe ihren Anteil von 9,7 Prozent der veröffentlichten Videos auf 27,6 Prozent der angezeigten Videos fast verdreifachen können.BSW profitiert, FDP verliertAuch das BSW war demnach ein Gewinner der Algorithmen: Die Partei wurde gemessen an der Anzahl ihrer Beiträge (3,1 Prozent) deutlich häufiger (8,3 Prozent) in den Feeds angezeigt. Noch mehr büßte demnach die CDU ein, die 17,1 Prozent aller Videos postete, allerdings nur einen Anteil von knapp fünf Prozent in den Feeds erreichte. (…) Videos mit Bezug zur AfD wurden laut Studie nicht nur am häufigsten angezeigt, sondern auch am schnellsten vorgeschlagen: Durchschnittlich elf bis zwölf Minuten nach Erstellung eines TikTok-Profils habe es gedauert, bis ein Video mit dem Hashtag „afd“ angezeigt worden sei. Videos mit „#spd“ seien dagegen erst nach 70 Minuten ausgespielt worden. Über die AfD wurden allerdings auch mit deutlichem Abstand die meisten parteispezifischen Hashtags auf jeder Plattform abgesetzt: Auf TikTok und Instagram lagen die Werte sogar bei mehr als 50 Prozent. Diese Hashtags können alle Nutzenden ihren Beiträgen anfügen.

Untersucht wurde unter anderem, wie viele während des Bundestagswahlkampfs von offiziellen Parteiaccounts veröffentlichte Videos ihnen automatisch angezeigt wurden.

Arbeitsgericht in Erfurt stellt klar: : Land darf Bewerber wegen AfD-Mitgliedschaft ablehnen

Ein politisch hochbrisanter Fall am Arbeitsgericht Erfurt! Der AfD-Kreistagsabgeordnete Christian Ende (50) aus dem Kyffhäuserkreis (Thüringen) verklagte den Freistaat Thüringen. Grund: Wegen seiner Mitgliedschaft und seines politischen Mandats in der Rechtsaußen-Partei war er als Bewerber für eine Stelle im Landesverwaltungsamt abgelehnt worden. Der Kommunalpolitiker hatte zuvor 26 Jahre als Krankenpfleger in einer Klinik gearbeitet, keinerlei Einträge im Führungszeugnis. Im Sommer 2024 bewarb er sich für einen freien Sachbearbeiter-Posten im Referat Heimaufsicht – trotz geringerer Gehaltsaussichten. Kurios: Im Bewerbungsgespräch verriet Ende selbst, dass er Mitglied im Landesverband von Rechtsaußen Björn Höcke (53) ist. Daraufhin wurde ihm zunächst signalisiert, dass das kein Problem sei. Erst kurz vor Unterzeichnung des Vertrages machte die Behörde plötzlich einen Rückzieher, nachdem sich das Innenministerium eingeschaltet hat.

Tschechien nach der Wahl – Babiš holt Rechtsextreme in die tschechische Regierung

Der künftige Premier Andrej Babiš und seine Partner haben sich auf einen Koalitionsvertrag geeinigt. Außen- und Verteidigungsministerium könnten an Männer gehen, die sich wiederholt rassistisch und EU-feindlich geäußert haben. Von Viktoria Großmann, Warschau Ein Amateur-Rennfahrer mit einem Hang zu NS-Devotionalien als Außenminister, das Verteidigungsministerium in der Hand von Rechtsextremen und ein milliardenschwerer Unternehmer als Premier: So könnte die neue tschechische Regierung aussehen. Einen Monat ist es her, dass Andrej Babiš und seine populistische Partei Ano bei der Wahl zum tschechischen Abgeordnetenhaus mehr als 34 Prozent der Stimmen erhielten und die bisherigen konservativ-bürgerlichen Regierungsparteien weit hinter sich ließen. Nun präsentieren Babiš und seine Partner einen Koalitionsvertrag, der vor allem die Verteilung der Ministerien regelt. Wie im Wahlkampf versprochen, wollen die Parteien das Rentenalter deckeln und Energiekosten senken. Die Einführung des Euro lehnen sie ab. Zugleich trat am Montag erstmals das neu gewählte tschechische Unterhaus zusammen. Vorsitzender der Kammer soll ein Rechtsextremer werden. Das gab es in Tschechien noch nie. Bis zu seiner Ernennung dauert es noch, doch Babiš, der bereits von 2017 bis 2021 die Regierung anführte, wird nach vier Jahren Opposition erneut Premier werden. Und sein zweites Kabinett wird im Vergleich zum ersten sehr weit rechts stehen. Zudem fehlt es an erfahrenen und an gemäßigten Stimmen. Vor acht Jahren hatte sich Babiš mit den Sozialdemokraten zu einer Minderheitsregierung zusammengetan, die sich von den Kommunisten tolerieren ließ. Babiš will Tschechien wie eine Firma führen Diesmal musste sich der 71-Jährige, um eine Mehrheit zu finden, mit der rechtsextremen Partei Freiheit und direkte Demokratie einig werden, die tschechische Abkürzung lautet SPD. Und mit der noch sehr jungen Partei „Autofahrer“, die es im vergangenen Jahr bereits ins Europaparlament schaffte. Die Autofahrer gehören dort der Fraktion Patrioten für Europa an – zusammen mit Babiš’ Ano-Partei, die in der liberalen Fraktion Renew Europe nicht mehr erwünscht gewesen war. Obwohl Babiš die Patrioten zusammen mit Herbert Kickls FPÖ und Viktor Orbáns Fidesz gründete, und der Fraktionsvorsitzende der Rassemblement-National-Chef Jordan Bardella ist, lassen sich weder er selbst noch seine Partei dem rechten oder gar rechtsextremen Spektrum zuordnen. Babiš bleibt seinem Motto treu, den Staat wie eine Firma führen zu wollen. Er warb im Wahlkampf mit sozialen Versprechungen, das hatte ihm früher schon Stimmen gebracht. Babiš betont gern, dass er sich von der EU nicht hineinreden lasse. Auf Widerspruch und Kritik reagiert der Multimilliardär üblicherweise mit Häme und Gegenvorwürfen, freie Medien, Aktivisten und gemeinnützige Organisationen sind ihm ein Dorn im Auge. Der slowakische Politologe Milan Nič, der für die Deutsche Gesellschaft für Auswärtige Politik arbeitet, erwartet allerdings nicht, dass Tschechien den Weg Ungarns einschlage. Babiš habe kein Interesse, EU-Subventionen aufs Spiel zu setzen, sagt Nič.

Rechter Angriff auf Jugendhaus Hakenkreuze und AfD-Tags – #terror

Das Autonome Jugendhaus in Bargteheide ist am Wochenende erneut verwüstet worden. Unbekannte hinterließen rechtsextreme Symbole und AfD-Schriftzüge. Umgekippte Stühle, vollgesprayte Musikboxen, durchnässte Sofas, eine eingeschlagene Fensterscheibe und Feuerlöscherschaum: In der Nacht zu Sonntag sind Unbekannte ins Autonome Jugendhaus (AJH) in Bargteheide in Schleswig-Holstein eingebrochen und haben die Innenräume verwüstet. An den Wänden in der Küche hinterließen sie mit blauer Sprayfarbe Hakenkreuze und AfD-Schriftzüge. Das sieht man auf Fotos, die der taz vorliegen. Am Sonntagmittag hatten im AJH aktive Jugendliche den Einbruch entdeckt, sagt AJH-Sprecher Tjorben, 17, der taz. „Sämtliche Sitzmöbel wurden zerstört, der Boden ist aufgeweicht, die Induktionsherdplatten kaputt und der Stromkreis hat es leider nicht geschafft.“ Zudem habe es streng gerochen, die Tä­te­rin­nen hätten Chlorreiniger aus dem Schrank genommen und über Elektronik, Möbel und den Boden verschüttet. Tjorben schätzt den Sachschaden für das Jugendhaus auf ein- bis zweitausend Euro. Zudem sei die Musikbox einer Privatperson mit Sprühfarbe beschmiert und ihr Dieselgenerator geklaut worden. Das für politische Straftaten zuständige Kommissariat 5 der Bezirkskriminalinspektion in Lübeck hat die Ermittlungen aufgenommen. Die Be­am­tin­nen ermitteln wegen des Verdachts der Sachbeschädigung und prüfen, ob ein Zusammenhang zu ähnlichen Taten in der Vergangenheit vorliegt. Der Vorstand des AJH schreibt in einer Pressemitteilung von einem Angriff von „AfD-Sympathisanten“. Auch Tjorben, der seit einigen Jahren im AJH aktiv ist, geht von einem politisch motivierten Angriff aus.
