Arkanum, the organisation which gained access to the National American Order’s (NAO) messages, told the JC it has reason to believe that a violent attack is “likely”. Investigators traced the vandalism of a Jewish centre in Tucson, Arizona, on December 16 back to the NAO and saw pictures and private messages that indicated responsibility. The message, which accompanies an image of the defacement, was sent on December 17 and read: “One of our members of the AZ [Arizona] cell visited Tucson’s Jewish community centre!” The member in question put up a swastika-laden poster in the window of the centre, which matches one shared internally by NAO, bearing the caption: “Law enforcement are political soldiers. They protect the filth of ‘democracy’.” Further evidence of NAO’s accountability, Arkanum says, comes from an internal video of an individual believed to be a member of the cell at the scene. Another poster, which was not left at the centre but was shared on the channel, read: “Wake up white European. The US Government bows down to the k***.” However, it was only when investigators started delving into the contents of the Telegram channel that the scale of the threat posed by the NAO was uncovered.

The defence, which will present its sentencing arguments in January, is asking for a sentence of 12 to 14 years. Althorpe pleaded guilty in October to facilitating terrorist activity, instructing a person to carry out terrorist activity, and willfully promoting hatred against identifiable groups, as he admitted to making videos for the since-disbanded Atomwaffen Division, an international neo-Nazi group listed as a terrorist entity by several countries, including Canada in 2021. He also wrote racist and violent manifestos that still exist online today, and have been cited by people who committed acts of terrorism, including an attacker who killed two people in a shooting outside a Slovakian gay bar in 2022, and a teenager who stabbed five people near a mosque in Turkey in 2024. “Althorpe is the man behind the curtain,” Pashuk said. These were not just some “ill-conceived and regretted social media posts,” the Crown said. Rather, Althorpe’s writings represent a “continuous, deep-rooted and decade-long commitment of advancing an extraordinarily violent” white supremacist ideology. Had he not pleaded guilty, Pashuk said the Crown would have asked for a life sentence.
Adecade after shooting five unarmed Black protesters in Minneapolis, white supremacist Allen “Lance” Scarsella is set to be released from his prison sentence on January 5, 2026. Despite community calls for hate crime and attempted murder charges, Scarsella was convicted of felony riot and assault and sentenced to 15 years for his racially motivated terror attack on the Black Lives Matter, Justice for Jamar Clark protest encampment outside of Minneapolis Police’s 4th Precinct on Nov. 23, 2015. Scarsella was arrested by SWAT police on Nov. 24, 2015, at his parents’ suburban home. Police found the handgun used for the attack in Scarsella’s room next to a computer adorned with a German Nazi flag and a Confederate flag on the wall. He is now 33 years old. Scarsella was part of the beginning of a new wave of white nationalists using coded language and memes derived from the Internet while espousing white supremacist ideals through terminology not recognized by the larger majority of the populace. He routinely participated in armed meetups and camping trips with other racists that were organized on 4chan’s /k/ board, several of whom took part in trolling and stalking the Jamar Clark protests while armed. Since his arrest, Scarsella has been incarcerated in protective custody and was sent to an out-of-state facility to serve his state sentence. (…) Five young, unarmed Black men were shot: Cameron Clark, Walter Hoskins, Teven King, Draper Larkins, and Wesley Martin. Hoskins was shot multiple times by Scarsella who stood over him before making his getaway. King was shot in his stomach, and just a few years after the shooting, he died from the impacts of the injury. The initial seriousness of King’s injury was the reason why Scarsella was charged with one first-degree assault charge — a charge that the community felt should have been attempted murder.

Fast versteckt findet sich in diesem Paket aber auch eine Änderung, die nach Silvester vermutlich eher zu Kontroversen führen wird. Bei einer Verurteilung wegen Volksverhetzung kann das Strafgericht künftig das passive Wahlrecht aberkennen. Das heißt: Falls Björn Höcke oder ein anderer AfD-Hetzer wegen Volksverhetzung verurteilt würde, dürfte er fünf Jahre lang nicht mehr für einen Sitz im Landtag oder Bundestag kandidieren. Etwas Ähnliches war im schwarz-roten Koalitionsvertrag angekündigt worden: „Im Rahmen der Resilienzstärkung unserer Demokratie regeln wir den Entzug des passiven Wahlrechts bei mehrfacher Verurteilung wegen Volksverhetzung.“ Gegenüber dieser Ankündigung sieht Hubigs Vorschlag nun zwei Abmilderungen und eine Verschärfung vor. So plant Hubig keinen Automatismus, sondern die Gerichte sollen im Einzelfall entscheiden. Außerdem sollen Verurteilungen zu Geldstrafen nicht ausreichen, vielmehr soll mindestens eine sechsmonatige Freiheitsstrafe erforderlich sein. Allerdings soll der Verlust der Wählbarkeit nicht erst bei wiederholter Verurteilung wegen Volksverhetzung eintreten können, sondern schon beim ersten Mal.
