Rassismus-Eklat um Frankreich-Stars: #Griezmann und #Dembélé verhöhnen Asiaten – #StopAsianHate

Dem EM-Aus folgt der Eklat: In den sozialen Netzwerken kursiert ein Video der französischen Fußballstars Antoine Griezmann und Ousmane Dembélé. Die beiden Kicker des FC Barcelona verhöhnen darin Asiaten. Unklar ist, von wann das Video stammt. Am Montag schied die französische Nationalmannschaft im EM-Achtelfinale gegen die Schweiz aus. Anschließend offenbarte sich großer interner Zwist, unter anderem zwischen Superstar Kilian Mbappé, Mittelfeldspieler Adrien Rabiot und Stürmer Antoine Griezmann. Letzterer erschüttert die Grande Nation nun mit einem weiteren Eklat. Dem Spieler des FC Barcelona und seinem Teamkollegen Ousmane Dembélé (ehemals Borussia Dortmund) wird Rassismus vorgeworfen. Auslöser ist ein Video, das in den sozialen Netzwerken kursiert. Der 24-jährige Dembélé soll es aufgenommen haben, Griezmann ist darauf zu sehen. Die beiden beobachten in einem Hotel eine Gruppe Männer, bei denen es sich wohl um Asiaten handelt, wie sie einen Fernseher instandsetzen, auf dem die beiden offenbar das Videospiel Pro Evolution Soccer spielen wollen. Dembélé macht sich über die Männer lustig. “All diese hässlichen Gesichter”, sagt der Flügelstürmer und mokiert sich dann über deren Sprache. Griezmann grinst und lacht. User in den sozialen Medien gehen davon aus, dass das Video vor zwei Jahren aufgenommen wurde – Dembélé und Griezmann weilten damals zur Saisonvorbereitung mit Barcelona in Japan. Neu oder nicht – das Video löst unter dem Hashtag #StopAsianHate Empörung aus. Es werden Stellungnahmen des französischen Fußballverbands gefordert, dazu Konsequenzen für die beiden Kicker.

Believers in QAnon and other conspiracy theories reveal how they climbed out of the rabbit hole

For two years, Jitarth Jadeja spent most of his time in the darkest corners of the web reading about conspiracy theories. Mr Jadeja, 33, was an avid follower of QAnon — a baseless, far-right theory that started by alleging then-US president Donald Trump was fighting against a secret group of elites who ran a global child sex trafficking ring. For hours each day, Mr Jadeja devoured cryptic predictions shared by an anonymous online poster called Q on the imageboard website 4chan. Mr Jadeja clung to the shadowy figure’s updates until he started noticing that Q was getting things wrong — a lot.  In early 2018 for instance, an anonymous poster on 8chan (now known as 8kun) requested Q to ask Mr Trump to say “tip top tippy top” as a shout-out to the QAnon community. Four months after the post, Mr Trump mentioned the phrase in his Easter Egg Roll speech at the White House. The coincidence was almost enough to lay Mr Jadeja’s doubts to rest, but if Q had really told Mr Trump to say the phrase, why did it take him four months to mention it? “I thought, if this can be debunked, then that’s it,” says Mr Jadeja, who lives in Sydney. It only took a quick Google search to find a YouTube video showing clips of Mr Trump saying the phrase on several other occasions.  In minutes, Mr Jadeja realised that he had spent two years being led down a rabbit hole of false information. (…) QAnonCasualties – a Reddit community for those impacted by QAnon and former believers — has grown to include 158,000 members since it was created in July 2019. And ReQovery — another Reddit support group geared towards ex-QAnon followers — has attracted almost 9,300 members in less than a year. Like Mr Jadeja, Leila Hay, 19, knew that it was time to break up with Q when she realised none of their predictions had come to pass. “I knew that a lot of the predictions had never come true, but I didn’t realise how many had not come true,” says Ms Hay, who lives in northern England. “I was quite embarrassed.”

Extremists use Minecraft and Roblox to recreate Christchurch attack – #terror

Terrorism monitors say far-right groups are targeting children’s gaming sites. Far-right extremists have used children’s gaming platforms to recreate the Christchurch atrocity in New Zealand in which 51 people were killed. A map of one of the mosques targeted in Christchurch was placed on Minecraft, terrorism researchers revealed. The map, which had been online for two months, received hundreds of views and a link had been posted on a white supremacist image board on the dark web. In another instance, a video which included the same music that was used in the live-streamed mosque attack was created in the online Roblox game and shared. The Christchurch attack saw white supremacist Brenton Tarrant kill 51 people at two mosques in March 2019. He opened fire on worshippers inside the Al Noor mosque, broadcasting the attack on Facebook Live via a head camera he was wearing. Tarrant then drove to the Linwood Islamic Centre where he shot people outside and then shot at the windows. The Counter Extremism Project, which monitors extremist activity online, said: “CEP researchers identified a video posted on Streamable consisting of a recreation of the Christchurch terrorist attack video in the online video game Roblox, as well as a map of one of the mosques targeted in the attack in the game Minecraft, which was then shared on an image board that promotes violent white supremacism.”

A Former Cop Charged In The Capitol Attack Has Amassed An Arsenal Of Weapons Since Jan. 6 – #CapitolRiot #terror

Thomas Robertson, who was released from custody on the condition that he not possess firearms, had an M4 rifle, ammunition, and a partial pipe bomb when authorities searched his home. And he had just ordered 34 more guns online. While some people charged in the Jan. 6 attack on the US Capitol have shown remorse for their actions and taken plea deals, Thomas Robertson has posted defiant messages on social media and, according to court records, defied a judge’s order to amass an arsenal of weapons. The former Rocky Mount, Virginia, police officer who stormed the Capitol with his cop buddy and posted a photograph of them inside the building on Instagram was arrested Jan. 13 and released on several conditions, one of which was not to possess firearms. But when FBI agents searched Robertson’s home on Tuesday they found a loaded M4 rifle, large amounts of ammunition, and a partially-assembled pipe bomb, according to a court document filed Wednesday. The search came after the FBI reviewed emails in Robertson’s Yahoo account that led to records from Gunbroker.com. The records showed that Robertson had ordered 34 weapons from the website, “transporting them in interstate commerce while under felony indictment” after he was indicted on felony charges in January. According to the court filing, agents also found a box labeled with a blue piece of tape that included the words “Booby Trap.”

Team Trump quietly launches new social media platform

GETTR will be the newest MAGA venture in this space. It’s being led by Trump’s former spokesman, Jason Miller. Former President Donald Trump’s team quietly launched a new social media platform on Thursday, billing it as an alternative to Big Tech sites. The platform, called GETTR, advertised its mission statement as “fighting cancel culture, promoting common sense, defending free speech, challenging social media monopolies, and creating a true marketplace of ideas.” Trump’s former spokesman, Jason Miller, is leading the platform, he confirmed via text. A person familiar described the site as similar to Twitter. Trump’s involvement with the project is unclear as is whether or not he will set up an account on GETTR and use it, though his proximity to Miller suggests that this may be the latest attempt to get him back in the churn of social media The former president has been looking for alternative ways to engage with his base online after having been booted off Twitter and suspended from Facebook after encouraging the Capitol rioters on January 6. And his prior effort to engage online—through the launch of a professional blog—ended quickly amid widespread ridicule and poor readership. GETTR is one of the highest-profile projects in a larger ecosystem of pro-MAGA tech and social media platforms that have blossomed on the right, largely fueled by a sense that Big Tech is attempting to silence conservative and pro-Trump ideology from being disseminated online. In recent months, it was widely reported that the Trump team was searching for a platform on which to re-establish his online presence, either by buying a company outright and rebranding it as his exclusive platform, or becoming a featured draw.

Ein Augsburger Polizist ist von einem Gericht zu einer Geldstrafe von 4400 Euro verurteilt worden. Er hatte Claudia Roth (Die Grünen) und weitere Spitzenpolitiker auf dem Sozialen Netzwerk Facebook beschimpft. Eine Reihe von ihnen hatte Strafantrag gestellt – darunter auch Roth. Wie rassistisch darf sich ein Polizist auf Facebook äußern? Welche herablassenden Äußerungen darf er öffentlich im Internet über Politiker verbreiten? Mit solchen Fragen hat sich am Donnerstag das Amtsgericht Augsburg befasst. Die Staatsanwaltschaft hatte einen Augsburger Polizeioberkommissar unter anderem wegen mehr als zwei Dutzend Fällen der Volksverhetzung angeklagt. Doch in den allermeisten Fällen bekam der 53-Jährige einen Freispruch. Nur wegen einer Beleidigung von Bundestagsvizepräsidentin Claudia Roth (Grüne) wurde er zu einer Geldstrafe von 4400 Euro verurteilt. Der Beamte hatte das Gesicht der ebenfalls aus Augsburg stammenden Grünen-Politikerin mit einem Pferdehintern verglichen. „Das geht zu weit“, entschied Richterin Rita Greser (Az. 03 Ds 101 Js 100806/20). Die anderen von dem mittlerweile suspendierten Polizisten im Jahr 2019 geposteten Text- und Bildbeiträge auf Facebook sah Greser von der Meinungsfreiheit gedeckt. „Das ist alles nicht schön. Man sollte sich zurückhalten mit solchen Äußerungen, aber es ist keine Straftat“, sagte sie im Urteil. Eine Diskussion über die SPD-Kandidaten im Märkischen Kreis II für die Landtagswahl ist bei Facebook eskaliert. Ein Mendener AfD-Ratsmitglied äußerte sich antisemitisch. (…) Das Mendener AfD-Ratsmitglied Rainer Schwanebeck schrieb „Herzlich Glückwunsch Frau Blask. Sie haben einen der schlimmsten Brunnenvergifter verhindert.“ Er bezog sich damit darauf, dass sich Blask im Duell gegen den Mendener Ratsfraktionsvorsitzenden Sebastian Meisterjahn durchgesetzt hatte. „Klassischer Fall einer antijudaistischen Verschwörungstheorie.“ Für Aufregung sorgte dabei die Formulierung „Brunnenvergifter“. Die Enzyklopädie Wikipedia definiert den Begriff wie folgt: „Als Vorwurf ist Brunnenvergiftung auch ein altes Stereotyp zur Verleumdung bestimmter Volksgruppen. Sie wurde den Juden im Mittelalter zugeschrieben und löste europaweit Judenverfolgungen und Pogrome mit hunderttausenden Todesopfern an ihnen aus. Der Vorwurf war der klassische Fall einer antijudaistischen Verschwörungstheorie.“
