A young man has admitted he was arrested while plotting to conduct a white supremacy-inspired terrorist attack in Canberra that would have resulted in injuries or death. This means the now-18-year-old will become the first person in the ACT to be sentenced for planning to commit a terrorist act. He was 17 when he was arrested in November 2025, which means he legally cannot be named due to his age. A police raid on his bedroom allegedly found some of the materials needed to make chlorine gas, as well as gas masks, military-style clothing and texts relating to Nazism. He was refused bail while his charges progressed through the courts. He had been scheduled to face a three-week trial in the ACT Supreme Court next month. But instead, he faced the Supreme Court again this week and pleaded guilty to two counts of committing acts in preparation of a terrorist act.
