An Independence man has been charged with sexual exploitation of children following an investigation into his alleged ties with social media groups known for engaging in criminal exploitation of vulnerable populations, including minors. Jordan A. Porter, 23, faces charges of receipt of child pornography over the internet and possession of child pornography. Porter received child sexual abuse material, or CSAM, several times over social media, according to court records. This material included the exploitation of minors under 12 years old, according to court records. In a criminal complaint, Homeland Security Investigations connected Porter to Nihilistic Violent Extremist, or NVE, groups. NVE networks operate “in furtherance of political, social, or religious goals that derive primarily from a hatred of society at large and a desire to bring about its collapse by sowing indiscriminate chaos, destruction, and social instability,” according to a news release from the federal Western District of Missouri.
