The recently rebranded Caledonia Club – formerly Active Club Scotland – is part of the wider international Active Club network. First promoted in 2017 by American far-right activist Robert Rundo, there are Active Club chapters across the United States and worldwide. The idea with the Active Club movement is to combine physical exercise with far-right beliefs, with members often pictured training in martial arts and going on hikes. A report by anti-racism campaign group Hope not Hate in 2024 found that the Scottish chapter’s members include those who have made bomb threats and marched with National Action, a terror group that is banned in the UK. But now, an investigation by the Sunday National can reveal that this white supremacist group appears to be increasingly targeting – and potentially recruiting – young Scots. In the past few months, Caledonia Club has posted several images to members on messaging app Telegram – where they have more than 1000 followers – which appear to include young Scots. In one image, in which two adults stand on either side of at least one young Scot, the group writes: “Some of the lads met up recently to scout new locations for cliff jumping and summer events. “White boy summer preparation is in full swing. Are you going to be involved White Man? JOIN TODAY.” Meanwhile, Caledonia Club have also posted videos showing Active Club members from across the world boxing and drinking with the tagline: “3.0 is the future of white youth”. Another repost from an account called “whiteyouthinrevolt” writes that “there’s fun in fascism” and links to a directory for various Active Club youth chapters around the world for children as young as 15. Caledonia Club has also been promoting content from Albion Youth Club, which describes itself as a “fraternal organisation of youths aged 15-18” that is recruiting “across the island of Great Britain” – although it appears to be more England-based.
