Far-right group #BloodAndHonour has assets frozen by government – #terror #BH #C18

The neo-Nazi organisation Blood and Honour, which is linked to parts of the skinhead music scene, has become the first extreme right-wing group to have financial sanctions imposed by the UK government. Treasury ministers said they had “reasonable grounds to suspect” Blood and Honour of being involved in “terrorist activities through promoting and encouraging terrorism, seeking to recruit people for that purpose and making funds available for the purposes of its terrorist activities”. The assets freeze – which was extended to all aliases or affiliate groups including Combat 18 and 28 Radio – means nobody in the UK can provide funding or financial services to those named organisations. This is a different government response from proscription – in which the Home Office issues banning orders on extremist groups. (…) Over the last decade, six extreme right wing groups have been banned – or proscribed – by the Home Office as terrorist organisations, the first being National Action in December 2016. The list also includes Atomwaffen Division, Feuerkrieg Division, Sonnenkrieg Division, The Base and The Terrorgram collective.

Sussex nurse sacked after series of racist incidents

A mental health nurse has been struck off after asking a Polish colleague whether he was “some sort of Nazi” while out on a Christmas do. Rachel Hole was also accused of using the N-word while out with work colleagues amid a string of racist incidents spanning a number of years while working as a ward manager on The Hazel Ward, a Low Secure Mental Health Ward at The Chichester Centre in Chichester. Ms Hole also scared a BAME colleague by putting a white sheet over her head in a Halloween prank but later defended herself by saying she was “hardly one of the Ku Klux Klan”. A nursing and midwifery tribunal heard that Ms Hole, who worked for Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust for more than 20 years, was accused of multiple racially aggravated incidents between 2015 and 2020. The tribunal was told that Ms Hole had been out with co-workers around either December 2017 or 2018 at a Christmas dinner in a Chinese restaurant when a Polish colleague came over to their table and took some food. One anonymous witness, a occupational therapist technician at Sussex Partnership, alleged that Ms Hole said to their Polish colleague “Are you some sort of Nazi? Share”.

Neo-Nazi gets 3.5 years for role in beating death of gay Phoenix man

Cory Young was charged with hindering a police investigation into the 2023 beating death of Jake Kelly, his housemate. On Monday in Maricopa County Superior Court, neo-Nazi skinhead Cory Young was sentenced to 3 1/2 years in prison for his part in the August 2023 beating death of Jake Kelly, a 49-year-old gay man with whom Young and his wife had been living in north Phoenix. The sentence was part of a plea deal struck in November, wherein the 45-year-old Young, a violent ex-con whose body is festooned with racist tattoos, pleaded guilty to a Class 3 felony for hindering the police investigation into the incident. Before Judge Daniel Martin pronounced the sentence, Jake’s mother, Jan Kelly, addressed the court, calling Young a “monster” who had been “arrested and imprisoned” for violent crimes in the past, including “vicious” beatdowns Young meted out to others while incarcerated. (…) Judge Martin could have sentenced Young to probation or up to two to 8 3/4 years in prison, but the judge said that the presumptive term of 3 1/2 years was “appropriate,” giving Young credit for 184 days of presentence incarceration. Shannon Young, 37, was sentenced to probation in December after pleading guilty earlier last year to hindering prosecution. She was in court and sat expressionless as her husband was placed in handcuffs and taken away by sheriff’s deputies to begin serving his term. A third man, 35-year-old Angel Mullooly, faces a charge of second-degree murder in Jake Kelly’s killing. A scheduling hearing for Mullooly’s trial has been put off till Feb. 26, according to court documents.

Yellowstone Park shooting gunman spewed racist views before thwarted attack, prosecutors say – #terror

The man who authorities say tried to carry out a mass shooting in Yellowstone National Park last year spewed racist views months before his attempted attack, prosecutors said in court documents.  In documents filed with the U.S. District Court in Wyoming last week, federal prosecutors said Samson Fussner, 28, planned the potential mass shooting they called “a terror attack” and revealed his plans to his brother. Fussner ranted about his mental health issues, racist ideas and plans for mass shootings in the employee dining room and at a fireworks display in West Yellowstone, Montana, according to court documents.  Prosecutors said in the documents that Fussner had a history of expressing white supremacist and antisemitic views and that he was an active member of a website dedicated to those views. Prosecutors filed the documents in an effort to have Fussner’s weapons, ammunition and SUV that were seized during the investigation forfeited to the government.  The gunman revealed his plans to commit violence to his brother days before dying in a shootout with park rangers, according to court documents. He complained to his brother about Yellowstone in text messages, prosecutors said, using racial slurs to describe people there and calling the park a “hellscape,” according to the documents. Fussner worked for a private business that was authorized to operate in Yellowstone, according to the National Park Service.

‘Shameful’: Officer let off over alleged Nazi salute

A leading Jewish community figure has slammed a decision to not charge a Melbourne police officer accused of performing the Nazi salute twice. The veteran police sergeant allegedly made the banned gesture at the Victoria Police Academy at Glen Waverley, in Melbourne’s southeast, on successive days in October. The 65-year-old woman was accused of approaching two employees and performing the salute, as well as uttering the words “heil Hitler”. The following day, in a post-family violence scenario debriefing with a recruit squad and another instructor, the sergeant again allegedly performed the salute and said “heil Hitler”. It prompted a swift rebuke from Victoria Police Chief Commissioner Shane Patton, who labelled her alleged actions “appalling” and “abhorrent”. But Victoria Police’s criminal case has been dropped after it received advice from the Office of Public Prosecutions that there was “no reasonable prospect of conviction”. An internal discipline investigation has been launched and the sergeant remains suspended. Anti-Defamation Commission chair Dvir Abramovich, who spent years lobbying governments to ban the salute, said he was shocked by the outcome given Mr Patton’s previous remarks.

Nazi graffiti sprayed on Sydney Synagogue in ‘ugly’ antisemitic attack

A synagogue in Allawah, South Sydney, was defaced with swastikas and hateful graffiti, including messages glorifying Adolf Hitler. Additional slogans, such as “Hitler on top,” the Arabic phrase “Allah hu Akbar,” “Free Palestine,” “F**k Israel” and “Jew dogs,” were spray-painted on the building’s exterior walls. Local police discovered the vandalism during a routine patrol early Friday and have opened a hate crime investigation. (…) New South Wales Police Assistant Commissioner Peter McKenna assured the public that the investigation includes counter-terrorism detectives, and pledged to bring the perpetrators to justice. He called the incident “disgusting” and warned those responsible that they would face prosecution. Security camera footage revealed two individuals, both masked and dressed in black hoodies, committing the crime. David Ossip, president of the NSW Jewish Board of Deputies, and Alex Ryvchin, co-chief executive of the Executive Council of Australian Jewry, urged the community to reject antisemitism and called for swift arrests.

‘VIOLENT #EXTREMISM’ | US describes #Dublin Riots as ‘white supremacist rioting’ in latest #terrorism report

The bureau says it leads the US Department of State “in the whole-of-government effort to counter terrorism abroad and to secure the US against foreign terrorist threats”. The US Bureau of Counterterrorism has described the Dublin riots of 2023 as “three days of white supremacist rioting” fuelled by disinformation from “Irish white supremacists and ultranationalists” in its latest reports on terrorism internationally. The bureau says it leads the US Department of State “in the whole-of-government effort to counter terrorism abroad and to secure the US against foreign terrorist threats”. It included the Dublin Riots in its Country Reports on Terrorism 2023 which was published last month. Ireland was included in a category titled White-Identity Terrorism/Racially or Ethnically Motivated Violent Extremism. The report states: “In November [2023], Irish white supremacists and ultranationalists online spread disinformation regarding the nationality of a stabbing suspect arrested after stabbing two adults and three children. This anti-immigrant disinformation led to three days of white supremacist rioting in Dublin, inuring police and bystanders.” The bureau said the it includes “all credible information about white-identity terrorism (WIT), including relevant attacks, the identification of perpetrators and victims of such attacks, the size and identification of organizations and networks, and the identification of notable ideologues”.
