Newcastle far-right Twitter user ‘celebrated’ Nazis and white supremacist mass murderers

Nathan Thompson, of Newcastle, admitted inciting racial hatred offences on Twitter, A social media user who celebrated Adolf Hitler, Nazi Germany, white supremacist mass murderers and promoted extremist right wing material has been spared prison. In July last year, counter terrorism police became aware of two Twitter accounts being operated by Nathan Thompson which were being used to disseminate far right material. As a result, his home was searched and a phone of his seized. One of the Twitter accounts had 584 followers and the other account had 51 followers. Angus MacDonald, prosecuting, told Newcastle Crown Court: “Both accounts showed he holds or held a right wing or racist mindset.” He said retweets and some tweets over a four month sample period between April and July last year contained anti-immigration, white supremacist, racist, anti-Jewish, anti-Islam, anti-LGBTQ plus and pro Nazi and Hitler material, including support for two mass killers. As well as the material from Twitter, the court heard police recovered “other material relevant to his mindset” and of a “right wing ideology”. He had carried out searches on his phone for white supremacist Brenton Tarrant, who killed people at mosques in New Zealand in 2019 and neo-Nazi Anders Breivik, who killed 77 people in Norway in 2011. A notepad found in his bedroom also had various notes and drawings, including reference to Jewish people and “KK”, which Mr MacDonald said was “presumably a reference to the white supremacist group’. When he was arrested, Thompson, 25, of Whickham View, Newcastle, denied being involved with any right wing organisation and said his posts were a legitimate expression of free speech. The court heard the posts were watched and shared hundreds of times.

Mit einem Sturmgewehr im Anschlag fordert der AfD-Landtagsabgeordnete Maximilian Müger auf TikTok zum Kampf gegen Migration auf. Für die Landespartei bringt das Video “inhaltlich vieles auf den Punkt”. Die Szene soll martialisch wirken: Ein deutlich übergewichtiger Mann, in hellen Kniehosen und militär-grünem T-Shirt hält ein Sturmgewehr im Anschlag. Hinter ihm grünes Buschwerk, unter seinen Stiefeln kahler Grund. Baseballkappe und Sonnenbrille verdecken den oberen Teil seines Gesichts. Doch der Mann, der in dem kurzen Video auf Tiktok zu sehen ist, will seine Identität gar nicht verbergen. Im Gegenteil. Er hat eine Botschaft: “Schon wieder ein Messermord, ein Messeranschlag, diesmal in Solingen. Egal, ob in Mannheim, in Frankfurt oder in Solingen – man ist in deutschen Städten nicht mehr sicher und muss Angst haben, auf einem Fest oder auf dem Heimweg erstochen oder anderweitig ermordet zu werden”, spricht der Mann in die Kamera. Er selbst befinde sich gerade in Polen, wo das Waffenrecht viel liberaler sei als in Deutschland und gleichzeitig das Sicherheitsempfinden viel höher. Der Mann mit dem Sturmgewehr hat dafür eine Erklärung: “Was hier fehlt, sind Talahons und afroarabische Migranten”. Lösungen hat er auch parat: “Wir müssen endlich diese Migration bekämpfen.” Der Monolog endet mit den Worten: “Freie Waffen für freie Bürger!”. Dann gibt er drei Schüsse ab. Müger bestätigt Echtheit des Videos Bei dem Mann mit dem Sturmgewehr handelt es sich um Maximilian Müger, der 2023 auf der Liste der AfD ins hessische Parlament einzog. Müger ist zudem stellvertretender Landesvorsitzender der AfD-Jugendorganisation Junge Alternative (JA) in Hessen. Der Bundesverband der JA wird vom Verfassungsschutz als “gesichert rechtsextrem” eingestuft. Gegen Müger selbst leitete die Staatsanwaltschaft Darmstadt im Juni ein Ermittlungsverfahren wegen des Verdachts der Volksverhetzung ein.

Hatewatch has identified a previously pseudonymous author and ideologue whose writings in the 2000s and early 2010s heavily influenced the “manosphere,” a loose network of blogs, forums, websites and influencers who support rolling back women’s rights, reject feminism and advocate for rigid gender roles. Christopher Moore, 60, is a former academic who has written under the pen name “Francis Roger Devlin” or “F. Roger Devlin” since the early 2000s. He is the author of the highly influential 2006 essay “Sexual Utopia in Power” and a 2015 book by the same name. Both works argue that men are victimized by policies and other efforts to promote sexual and gender equality, which he argues have “made men less attractive to women” and “probably contributed significantly to the decline in Western birthrates.” White nationalists and more mainstream far-right figures have credited Moore’s work as Devlin with shaping the male supremacist movement, or “manosphere,” into what it is today. “Everyone who has read Devlin seems to have started a blog or YouTube channel,” David Futrelle, a researcher on the radical right, wrote in 2013, referring to “Devlin’s” essays as a “Manospherian urtext.” Moore’s essays and commentary present sexual liberation and declining birth rates in white-majority countries as intertwined. In so doing, they provide a bridge between the more overt white nationalist groups and broader male supremacist circles, whose adherents may be less politically inclined. Under the Devlin pseudonym, Moore has spoken at various conferences hosted by radical-right groups within the U.S. and Europe. He has served as a contributor to several white nationalist publications, penning over 200 articles for those outlets since the mid-2000s, in addition to editing, authoring and translating several books.

White Supremacist Jeremy Skibicki Sentenced to Life for Murdering Four Indigenous Women in Canada

Jeremy Skibicki, a self-proclaimed white supremacist, has been sentenced to four consecutive life terms for the brutal murders of four Indigenous women in Winnipeg, Canada. The killings, which took place in 2022, have deeply shaken the First Nation community and ignited national outrage. Skibicki, 37, showed no remorse as the sentence was handed down on August 28th, following his conviction for the racially motivated killings and the subsequent abuse of his victims’ corpses. The victims, all Indigenous women, were tragically vulnerable members of their communities. Skibicki’s crimes targeted those who were already marginalized, amplifying the horror of his actions. The women—Morgan Harris, 39, Marcedes Myran, 26, Rebecca Contois, 24, and a fourth, as yet unidentified woman, known as Mashkode Bizhiki’ikwe, or Buffalo Woman—were all killed between March and May of 2022. The community’s grief is compounded by the fact that the remains of these women have yet to be found. A search is planned for later this year at a landfill site in Winnipeg, where authorities hope to recover and honor the remains of these women. Skibicki’s Disturbing Past and Heinous Crimes Skibicki’s background revealed a disturbing affinity for far-right ideologies and racist beliefs. His social media presence was riddled with antisemitic and misogynistic content, and he openly expressed his white supremacist views. These views fueled his violent actions, leading to the deaths of four innocent women. Throughout the trial, Skibicki’s defense attempted to attribute his actions to schizophrenia, claiming that he believed he was hearing divine commands to commit the murders. However, this defense was not enough to mitigate the severity of his crimes or the impact they have had on the victims’ families and communities.

Tommy Robinson served new contempt of court notice via his X account

Tommy Robinson is alleged to have breached a High Court order issued in 2021 barring him from repeating libellous allegations against a Syrian refugee. Tommy Robinson has been served his second contempt of court notice via his official Twitter/X page. The founder of the far-right English Defence League, real name Stephen Yaxley-Lennon, was handed a new contempt notice by The Attorney General’s Office, on behalf of the Solicitor General Sarah Sackman MP. He is alleged to have breached a High Court order issued in 2021 barring him from repeating libellous allegations against a Syrian refugee who successfully sued him. Mr Robinson, the former leader of the far-right English Defence League, had his account deactivated in 2018 for breaching Twitter’s “hateful conduct” policy but was reinstated by Elon Musk in November. A spokesperson for the Attorney General’s office said: “Stephen Yaxley-Lennon was served via his personal X, formerly known as Twitter, account on Wednesday 28 August after the application was lodged with the High Court on Monday 19 August. He was also served via his email address on Wednesday 21 August. “The contempt application relates to actions by Stephen Yaxley-Lennon, also known as Tommy Robinson, during June and July 2024 which are alleged to have breached the terms of an order imposed by the High Court on 22 July 2021 preventing him from repeating libellous statements.

Pawel Durow, der Chef des Messengerdienst Telegram, ist nach vier Tagen aus der Polizeihaft entlassen worden. Nach Angaben der Pariser Staatsanwaltschaft soll Durow vor Gericht erscheinen und wird womöglich angeklagt. Nach französischem Recht durfte Durow nur 96 Stunden festgehalten werden, bis ein Richter über das weitere Vorgehen entscheidet. Die Nachrichtenagentur dpa berichtete unter Berufung auf die Pariser Staatsanwaltschaft, dass ein Ermittlungsrichter Durow zum Verhör ins Gericht hat bringen lassen. Nach dem Verhör könnte ein Ermittlungsverfahren folgen. Ein solches Verfahren kann zu einem Strafprozess führen, falls die Ermittler ausreichend Beweise gegen den Beschuldigten sehen. Vorwurf der Beihilfe zu Kinderpornografie und Drogenhandel Nach seiner Festnahme am Flughafen Le Bourget vor Paris wurde Durow über Vorwürfe befragt, wonach Telegram für illegale Aktivitäten genutzt werde. Dem Messengerdienst wird unter anderem vorgeworfen, Beihilfe zu Straftaten wie Kinderpornografie und Drogenhandel geleistet zu haben.  Telegram habe es zudem unterlassen, Informationen oder Dokumente an Ermittler weiterzugeben und sich damit nicht an das Gesetz gehalten.

Hosted on Telegram, channels spread terrorism and share guides on how to make weapons and explosives. Terrorgram, a network of neo-Nazi channels hosted on Telegram, has begun to spread in Brazil. Nucleo has confirmed that a manifesto written by a young Turkish neo-Nazi, who stabbed five people and livestreamed the crime on social media, is also being shared by Brazilian groups. The content republished by Terrorgram was directly provided by the 18-year-old criminal, identified as Arda K. He attacked five people with a knife in the university town of Eskisehir, Turkey, and was arrested shortly afterward. The attack was livestreamed by K. for at least two minutes and went viral on X (formerly Twitter). On Telegram, videos of the attack have been turned into fancams, a term used for videos that celebrate someone or something popular on the internet, with captions featuring romantic or sexual declarations for the criminal. These videos, analyzed by Nucleo, contain explicit crime scenes and audio, as well as neo-Nazi symbols. Unlike other social media platforms like Facebook or TikTok, Telegram’s do not contain clear clauses prohibiting the sharing or production of content that glorifies crimes or criminals. In addition to the attack videos, the report identified that Brazilians are also sharing an audio file containing the English-translated version of the young Turk’s manifesto. A message from Terrorgram, identified by Nucleo, states: “This channel, and all those associated with it, DO NOT encourage white terrorism or mass murders. We only share this content to document history.”
