Lawsuit claims that tech billionaire and his Super Pac are ‘running an illegal lottery’ in swing state Pennsylvania. The Philadelphia district attorney’s office has filed a lawsuit seeking to stop Elon Musk’s political action committee from awarding $1m to registered voters in swing states. The lawsuit by the district attorney Larry Krasner accuses the tech billionaire and his America Pac group of attempting to influence voters in the US presidential election with hopes of winning a cash prize. “America PAC and Elon Musk are running an illegal lottery in Philadelphia (as well as throughout Pennsylvania),” the suit says. Pennsylvania is one of the key swing states where the presidential election between Donald Trump and Kamala Harris will be decided. The election is on a knife-edge in the national polls and also in the crucial battleground states – of which some experts see Pennsylvania as the most important. Krasner’s lawsuit, which names both Musk and America Pac as defendants, comes days after the US Department of Justice warned that the $1m daily sweepstakes could be a violation of federal election law. Musk has been extremely vocal about his endorsement of a potential second Trump presidency. The suit specifies that at an 19 October campaign rally, Musk announced that if a registered voter turned over personal identifying information and signed a petition pledging “support for the constitution”, they would be eligible to be selected randomly for a $1m prize. “That is a lottery,” the suit says. “And it is indisputably an unlawful lottery.” The suit also notes that under Pennsylvania law, all lotteries in that state must be regulated by the state.

Der Bundesstaat könnte besonders wichtig sein, weil er 19 Wahlleute stellt und als einer der sieben Bundesstaaten gilt, welche für den Ausgang der Wahl entscheidend sein werden. Für den Sieg bei der Präsidentenwahl am 5. November braucht man 270 Stimmen von Wahlleuten. Sollte Donald Trump abermals die Wahl verlieren, würde Kamala Harris zur ersten Frau im Weißen Haus. Die Aktion richtet sich an registrierte Wählerinnen und Wähler, die eine Petition unterzeichnen. Darin geht es um “die freie Meinungsäußerung und das Recht, Waffen zu tragen” – sie wurde von Musks Organisation “America PAC” ins Leben gerufen. Diese unterstützt den Wahlkampf des republikanischen Präsidentschaftskandidaten Donald Trump. Auch Musk selbst trat zuletzt immer wieder im Rahmen des Trump-Wahlkampfs auf. Laut Dokumenten der US-Wahlbehörde FEC hat der Tesla-Chef innerhalb von drei Monaten in Tranchen rund 75 Millionen Dollar (etwa 69 Millionen Euro) an das “America PAC” gespendet. Auch über seine Online-Plattform X verbreitet Musk Trumps politische Positionen – und behauptet unter anderem auch auch ohne jeden Beleg, die Demokraten ließen Einwanderer in die USA einfliegen, um die Wahl zu drehen. Gouverneur nennt Musks Vorgehen “äußerst besorgniserregend” Musks Gewinnspiel verstoße gegen ein Gesetz von Pennsylvania, das verlangt, dass alle Lotterien im Bundesstaat staatlich reguliert werden, heißt es in dem Gerichtsdokument. Außerdem verstoße es gegen verbraucherschützende Regelungen, da Musk weder eine vollständige Liste mit Lotterieregeln veröffentlicht noch dargelegt habe, wie er den Schutz der persönlichen Daten der Teilnehmer gewährleiste.

The video, less than 20 minutes, is propaganda from the proscribed neo-Nazi terrorist group the Base. “You want to have the best weaponry for war; to have the best tactics for war,” the man continues, “especially here in America.” The video, meant to entice Americans to join its ranks, isn’t on YouTube or even a social media site most people know. Instead, it’s being hosted on Rutube, a Russian-government-sponsored knockoff. Multiple analysts who follow its movements have noticed that the Base recently migrated much of its online content to Russian-owned sites or services. The move is part of an ongoing theme among the far right when western apps de-platform or moderate valuable accounts used for recruitment: retreat to the free-for-all that Russian sites offer. The Base relocating its recruitment to safer Russian havens comes at a time when western intelligence services are openly warning that the Kremlin has taken the gloves off, directing their agents to sow chaos in the west. Part of that has included the covert support of far-right extremist groups adjacent to the Base. Founded in 2018, the Base was the subject of a major nationwide FBI counterterrorism sweep netting more than a dozen of its members for a laundry list of terrorist activities across the US and Europe. Ken McCallum, the head of MI5, the UK’s domestic intelligence service, publicly stated earlier this month that Russia was responsible for “arson, sabotage” and other “actions conducted with increasing recklessness” on European and British soil. In a September announcement on SimpleX, a newly adopted encrypted chat service for some far-right extremists, the Base told its recruits to consume their content via its VK account, the Russian version of Facebook, or its Rutube channel. And in a series of September and October VK posts where it describes the “process for joining the Base in [the] USA”, the group also curiously dropped a new email with a Mail.Ru address – the email provider of a well-known ally of the Russian president, Vladimir Putin. The Base had previously operated a Proton Mail account (an email company based in Switzerland) as its point of contact.

Federal prosecutors laid out a case against Jordan Duncan, a Marine Corps veteran and federal defense contractor who became immersed in a secretive neo-Nazi group in the summer of 2020, describing an operative nicknamed “soldier” who was prized by his fellow extremists for his military expertise. The indictment against Duncan alleged that while serving in the Marine Corps 2d Radio Battalion at North Carolina’s Camp Lejeune, he “gathered a library of information, some military-owned and some publicly available, regarding various weaponry, to include firearms, explosives, and even nerve toxins.” The government presented evidence that Duncan shared the information with a handful of other young, white men who actively plotted an attack on the power grid that they hoped would plunge the country into chaos and provide cover for an assassination campaign. All of it, the government alleged, was for the purpose of launching a race war that would ultimately allow the formation of a white ethno-state. But when Duncan stood in a federal courtroom in Wilmington dressed in an orange jail jumpsuit and horn-rimmed glasses on Monday, the seven-year prison sentence meted out to him by a judge was for a firearms violation.

Trump Enduring Flame” popped up early Monday a few blocks from the White House. Mounted on a faux cement block, it depicts a large bronze hand holding up a flaming tiki torch, a nod to the torches carried by the thousands of neo-Nazis and right-wing extremists who terrorized the Virginia town in a “Unite the Right” rally. (…) The 2017 rally in Charlottesville descended into hours of violence and chaos, as thousands of white supremacists and armed militia groups faced off with counterprotesters. Three people died, and dozens were treated for injuries. Several attendees were later indicted on felony charges for carrying flaming torches with the intent to intimidate. Then-President Trump, who has fanned white nationalism and far-right extremism for years, responded to the violence by claiming there were “very fine people” on both sides. Bei einem Treffen eines Burschenschaftverbands in Jena sprachen auch Politiker über die Corona-Politik und deren Aufarbeitung. Allerdings waren nur Vertreter zweier Parteien unter den Diskutanten. Burschenschafter haben mit Politikern der AfD und des BSW bei einem Treffen der Allgemeinen Deutschen Burschenschaft in Jena über Aufarbeitung der Corona-Politik innerhalb von Parlamenten diskutiert. Mit dabei war nach Mitteilung des Verbands Friedrich Pürner. Der umstrittene frühere Leiter des Gesundheitsamts Aichach-Friedberg in Bayern, wurde bekannt, weil er Kritik an der Corona-Politik äußerte und danach versetzt wurde. Er ist nun BSW-Abgeordneter im Europaparlament und bestätigte der dpa seine Teilnahme. Auch der Thüringer AfD-Landtagsabgeordnete Jens Dietrich nahm an der Diskussion am Sonntag teil. Im Thüringer Landtag haben aktuell sowohl das BSW, unterstützt von einigen CDU-Abgeordneten, als auch die AfD einen Corona-Untersuchungsausschuss beantragt. (…) Die Allgemeine Deutsche Burschenschaft (ADB) zählt eigenen Angaben nach etwa 4.000 Mitglieder aus 27 Burschenschaften von 18 deutschen Hochschulorten. Betrugsvorwürfe gegen NRW-Politiker – AfD-Vorstand startet Ausschlussverfahren gegen Klaus Esser

Nach Vorwürfen um gefälschte Hochschulabschlüsse und Mitgliedermanipulation soll der Landtagsabgeordnete aus Düren die Partei verlassen. Die Landesspitze hat das Ausschlussverfahren nun auf den Weg gebracht – und findet deutliche Worte. Für den ehemaligen Landesvize Klaus Esser dürfte sein Ende innerhalb der Partei endgültig absehbar sein. Der AfD-Landesvorstand in Nordrhein-Westfalen hat ein sogenanntes Parteiausschlussverfahren gegen ihn jetzt offiziell auf den Weg gebracht. Der formale Antrag ist am vergangenen Freitag (25. Oktober) beim parteiinternen Landesschiedsgericht eingegangen, das darüber befinden muss. Hintergrund sind Betrugsvorwürfe gegen den 43-Jährigen, die durch die Berichterstattung unserer Redaktion öffentlich wurden. Esser soll für die Manipulation bei der Mitgliederaufnahme in seinem Dürener Kreisverband verantwortlich sein und außerdem Teile seines Lebenslaufs gefälscht haben, um parteiintern Karriere zu machen. Beides wird in dem Schreiben als Begründung für den Ausschluss angeführt. Esser habe mit der vorsätzlichen Täuschung über seine Qualifikation „im Zusammenhang mit der Bewerbung um eine entsprechend vergütete und für die Parteiorganisation absolut zentrale Arbeitsstelle“ nicht nur schwerwiegend gegen die Parteiordnung verstoßen, heißt es darin. Er habe der AfD auch nach außen hin „schweren Schaden zugefügt“, nicht nur materieller Art.
