A judge told Anthony Livesey: “I am absolutely stunned and shocked by you and your friends’ behaviour”. A thug stamped on a man’s head during a sickening group attack in Piccadilly Gardens during disorder at the weekend. Anthony Livesey, 31, was seen on Saturday, August 3, among a large group of ‘far right protesters’ who became involved in an assault on a black man. He has now pleaded guilty to violent disorder. Prosecutor Hannah Nicholls said: “This was filmed by a member of the far right group and uploaded onto X, formerly Twitter. “In relation to this defendant, he was seen to antagonise mounted police officers with two beer bottles in his hand on Market Street whilst swearing and chanting at the police and opposing protestors.” Livesey was then seen following the group as they climbed over barriers before they attacked the man. He was seen to ‘swing a punch’ towards the man while others pounced. At one stage the man was dragged away by members of the group before falling to the ground. “The defendant was then seen to stamp on top of the male’s head,” the prosecutor added. “The police then became involved.” The court heard Livesey, of Moorfield Avenue, Denton, Tameside, has previous convictions for domestic violence including battery and controlling behaviour.
