Richard Zachary Ackerman, a member of a neo-Nazi group, has admitted guilt for his role in the Capitol riot that took place on January 6, 2021. Ackerman confessed to hurling a water bottle at law enforcement officers and pilfering a police helmet amidst the tumultuous incidents at the lower west tunnel of the Capitol building. He has entered a guilty plea to obstructing law enforcement officers during civil disorder and theft of government property. Additional charges against him will be dropped following the plea agreement, including assault, resisting, opposing, and impeding a person engaged in the performance of official duties. (…) In court documents, Ackerman admitted to taking a SWAT team officer’s helmet, describing it as a “war trophy.” The FBI has recently obtained a tip containing a photograph of a U.S. Capitol Police helmet. The helmet has a sticker that reads “New England 131.” This sticker is believed to be linked to two neo-Nazi groups, namely the Nationalist Socialist Club 131 and the White Defense Force.
