A Jewish advocacy group is calling for stiffer punishment for the mother who placed a “vile” Nazi flag in her child’s room. While it is not illegal to own a Nazi symbol, the Campaign Against Antisemitism has advocated for stricter action against Amy Newport, whose “vile” banner was visible from the street. A Jewish community organization in the United Kingdom has urged the police to take stronger action against a lady who was photographed with a Nazi flag in her bedroom. After Amy Newport, 39, posted the enormous flag on the wall of her room, which could be seen easily from the street, her neighbors alerted counter-terrorism police. Due to the fact that it could be seen from outside her Swindon home, police told the mother of two that she could be committing a criminal offense. The former warehouse worker decided to take it down after authorities gave him “tough words of caution,” according to The Sun. “You couldn’t ignore the flag,” a local resident claimed. It’s terrible, and the fact that it’s in such a pleasant neighborhood further adds to the shock. We’re all enraged. “Hate and evil are the only words that come to me when I see that sign.” Why would anyone want it hanging in the window for everyone to see?” If it happens again, though, a representative for the Campaign Against Antisemitism told the Brinkwire exclusively that “the police must give more than just warnings.”
