Ten days before parliamentary elections, a far-right Swedish Democrat official invited his colleagues to celebrate the anniversary of the 1939 Nazi Germany attack on Poland, according to an internal email sent to the official’s parliamentary office. To celebrate 1 September 1939, the so-far unnamed Swedish Democrat (SD) politician sent an “invitation to everyone to celebrate this feast with due devotion and a variety of cardamom” to colleagues at the parliamentary office, Aftonbladet reported. The email was sent out to some 30 employees at the Swedish Democrats’ parliamentary office on Thursday afternoon from an employee. Sammy Almedal, head of the Swedish Democrats’ parliamentary office, confirmed the email’s authenticity and informed the employee that it was completely inappropriate.
