The charges relate to events that took place in Tampere and Turku on International Holocaust Remembrance Day two years ago. Police officers in Helsinki interrupted the march of the group “To Freedom” on Independence Day in December 2018. A Helsinki district prosecutor has filed charges of ethnic agitation against five people active in the neo-Nazi group ‘Towards Freedom’. Helsinki District Prosecutor Maija Paivinen said the charges relate to events that took place in Tampere and Turku two years ago between January 26 and 27, which is International Holocaust Remembrance Day. Päivinen noted that “Towards Freedom” has been active across the country, including in Helsinki, Jyväskylä, Pori, Kotka, Oulu, Vantaa and Vaasa. The charges, however, relate only to events in Tampere and Turku.
