2 leaders of white supremacist Idaho prison gang Aryan Knights sentenced for racketeering

A federal judge has sentenced two leaders of the Aryan Knights prison gang in Idaho to more than 17 years in prison on racketeering charges, according to the Idaho U.S. Attorney’s Office. Chief U.S. District Judge David Nye sentenced Christopher Foss, 32, to 17 years and six months, and Buck Pickens, 31, to 17 years and two months. Both Foss and Pickens will also serve five years of supervised release after serving prison time. Each was found to have played a leadership role in the Aryan Knights, or “AK,” according to a news release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office. The gang is active in the Idaho Department of Correction’s prisons and elsewhere. The AK gang has white supremacist and white separatist ideologies. Since its founding, the AK gang has expanded and is now believed to have over 100 members, both inside and outside of IDOC custody. “Members of the AK gang have used violence and the threat of violence to target non‑white inmates and other targeted inmates,” according to the news release. “AK gang members also engaged in drug trafficking, extortion, and gambling to generate revenue, which was shared among members.” Foss and Pickens were two of 10 AK gang defendants indicted by a federal grand jury in May 2019 for participating in a racketeering conspiracy, a crime under the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organization Act, commonly called the RICO Act. The indictment also included two separate counts for committing a violent crime in aid of racketeering. Both Foss and Pickens pleaded guilty to participating in a RICO conspiracy.

Feds detail Aryan Brotherhood investigation and surveillance as founder of PENI skinhead gang moves for release from California jail

Judge to rule on new motion for pretrial release. In their bid to keep the founder of an Orange County skinhead gang in prison while he faces charges of agreeing to kill a fellow Aryan Brotherhood member — an alleged murder plot that was never carried out — prosecutors revealed new details about the federal investigation into white gangs across California, including the fact that police conducted surveillance of a concert featuring the defendant’s hardcore band. The Wednesday filing by the U.S. Attorney’s office responds to a motion Donald Mazza, 49, for release from the Sacramento County Jail, where he is in federal pretrial detention facing conspiracy charges. The defense motion says Mazza has medical issues, including kidney problems, that make him particularly vulnerable to COVID-19. On Thursday, Chief U.S. District Judge Kimberly Mueller denied Mazza’s petition for release, court records show. Mazza has filed two previous motions for release, both of which also failed. In one of them, he cited assistance from an unexpected ally: the man he was allegedly sent out to kill on behalf of the Aryan Brotherhood, who filed a sworn statement saying he was not the least bit concerned of being killed by his longtime “friend,” Mazza. (…) Mazza, also known as “Popeye,” is a founding member of the Southern California skinhead gang called Public Enemy Number One, or PENI. According to prosecutors, he was one of several PENI members granted entrance into the Aryan Brotherhood “so that the AB could spread its influence and get gang members on the streets.” Last year, Mazza was one of roughly two dozen Aryan Brotherhood members and associates to be indicted on racketeering charges in a massive federal probe into the Aryan Brotherhood. The charges include five murders and four alleged murder plots, all allegedly ordered by high-ranking incarcerated Aryan Brotherhood members. Mazza was charged with agreeing to kill Aryan Brotherhood member Michael “Thumper” Trippe on the order or Ronald Dean Yandell, an Aryan Brotherhood commissioner who allegedly ordered the hit from his prison cell, using a contraband cellphone. During one call with Mazza in August 2019, Yandell allegedly expressed his displeasure that another Aryan Brotherhood member had recently been arrested on unrelated murder charges in San Diego before he carried out the kill order. Mazza was the next hitman in line, prosecutors allege.

A teenage neo-Nazi who researched how to convert a blank-firing gun into a lethal weapon has been convicted for preparing acts of terrorism. The 17-year-old, who cannot be named because of his age, joined the Feuerkrieg Division (FKD) online before it was banned as a terrorist organisation. Birmingham Crown Court heard that he rated himself as a nine to 10 on the “full-on Nazi Hitler” scale when questioned by police, but the boy denied planning a terror attack in court. The defendant, from Rugby in Warwickshire, said he “had existed in an echo chamber” of far-right chat rooms, amid mounting warnings about online radicalisation. (…) Detective Chief Superintendent Kenny Bell said the teenager had been discovered by a “covert internet investigator” who engaged with him online and allowed police to identify him from anonymous chats. “He was a member of Feuerkrieg Division, clearly with extreme right-wing violent ideology and trying to accelerate a race war,” he added. “Having become part of that group and got online he was discussing with them how he had the capability to source a blank firing firearm and convert it so it could be used.” Investigators did not identify a target for any potential attack, but said they swooped on the teenager because of fears he would be able to create a live firearm. Prosecutor Matthew Brook told the court the boy had asked an adult friend for advice on where he could buy a blank-firing gun. ”Even before joining FKD, the defendant was interested in whether this was a serious group that could be involved in physical action in the real world, rather than being in his words ‘just an online thing,” he added. Birmingham Crown Court heard that the boy was admitted as a member of FKD after doing an online test where he was asked his opinion of Jews and fascism.

An der Brandenburger Fachhochschule der Polizei in Oranienburg hat es in den vergangenen drei Jahren mehrere Fälle von mutmaßlichem Rechtsextremismus gegeben. “Wir hatten seit 2017 sieben Fälle, bei denen wir dienstrechtliche Maßnahmen wegen mutmaßlich rechtsextremistischer Äußerungen von Polizeianwärtern hatten”, sagte der Präsident der Hochschule, Rainer Grieger, der “Märkischen Oderzeitung ” (Freitag). Bei dieser Zahl könne man noch nicht von einem strukturellen Problem sprechen, meinte er. Die Berichte aus Nordrhein-Westfalen, wo 30 Polizisten an einer rechtsextremen Chatgruppe beteiligt gewesen sein sollen, nannte Grieger belastend. “Wer so etwas als Polizist tut, hat in unseren Reihen nichts zu suchen”, betonte er. “Wenn es um einen Anwärter bei uns ginge, würde ich ebenfalls die Entlassung einleiten.”

Unbekannte haben sich auf dem muslimischen Gräberfeld auf dem Nordfriedhof in Bonn über zwei betende Frauen lustig gemacht und eine von ihnen zudem rassistisch beleidigt und attackiert. Die Polizei sucht nach Zeugen. Ein Vorfall auf dem islamischen Gräberfeld des Nordfriedhofs beschäftigt den Staatsschutz der Bonner Polizei. Zwei 17 und 43 Jahre alte Frauen haben dort am Sonntag, 23. August, gegen 10.50 Uhr gebetet, als zwei noch unbekannte Personen an ihnen vorbeigingen und sich über die Frauen lustig machten. Die 43-Jährige, so schildert die Polizei, wollte den Mann und die Frau daraufhin zur Rede stellen. Doch der Unbekannte soll sie dann fremdenfeindlich beleidigt haben. Am Eingangstor, das zu dem Gräberfeld führt, trafen die beiden schließlich aufeinander, der Mann soll sie dort körperlich attackiert haben. Er habe „die Tür gegen sie getreten“ und die Frau „gepackt und geschüttelt“, wie die Polizei mit Verweis auf die Schilderungen der Frauen mitteilt

Nachdem eine Lehrerin in der vergangenen Woche positiv auf das Coronavirus getestet worden war, stehen 188 Schüler der Adolf-Reichwein-Gesamtschule unter Quarantäne. Sie mussten nun zum Massentest. Am Donnerstag wurden die Betroffenen vom Gesundheitsamt zum Corona-Massentest auf den Schützenplatz am Loh in Lüdenscheid gebeten. Gestört wurde die Reihentestung von mutmaßlichen Corona-Leugnern, die von dem Termin offenbar Wind bekommen hatten. Wie ein Stadtsprecher auf Anfrage mitteilte, wurden Vertreter einer vermeintlichen Elterninitiative, die unter anderem Flugblätter verteilte, sowie NPD-Ratsmitglied Stephan Haase durch das Ordnungsamt des Platzes verwiesen. Die Bürgerninitative “Eltern stehen auf” spricht sich in ihren Flugblättern gegen Quarantäne, Masken und Abstand aus – und gegen eine Impfpflicht.

Rechte NRW-Verfassungsschützer Auch Teamleiter nahm an Neonazi-Chat teil

Nicht nur in der Polizei, auch im Verfassungsschutz des Landes Nordrhein-Westfalen sollen sich Beamte in rechtsextremen Chats ausgetauscht haben. Diese Annahme teilt Innenminister Reul mit. Nun räumt er ein, dass ein Verdächtiger ein wichtiges Team leitete. Zu den drei Mitarbeitern des nordrhein-westfälischen Verfassungsschutzes, die des Rechtsextremismus verdächtigt werden, zählt auch eine ehemalige Führungskraft. Einer der Beschuldigten habe “eine teamleitende Funktion” ausgeübt, sagte Landesinnenminister Herbert Reul der “Rheinischen Post”. Alle drei seien Beamte im gehobenen Dienst gewesen. Inzwischen seien sie versetzt worden. In einem Fall gebe es ein Dienstverbot. Reul hatte am Donnerstag in einer Pressekonferenz mitgeteilt, dass drei Beamte einer Observationsgruppe des NRW-Verfassungsschutzes unter Verdacht stehen, Inhalte mit “islam- und fremdenfeindlicher Konnotation” in einer Chatgruppe und in sozialen Netzwerken ausgetauscht zu haben. Das betroffene Team war für die Beobachtung von Islamisten sowie Rechtsextremisten zuständig und sei inzwischen aufgelöst worden.
