Das Denkmal für die im Nationalsozialismus verfolgten Homosexuellen in Berlin ist von Unbekannten angegriffen worden. Die Tat sei bereits am Samstag in den frühen Morgenstunden verübt worden, sagte ein Sprecher des Polizei-Lagezentrums am Montagabend auf Anfrage. Der polizeiliche Staatsschutz habe die Ermittlungen übernommen. Zuvor hatte der Lesben- und Schwulenverband Berlin-Brandenburg von einem Brandanschlag auf das Denkmal berichtet. Polizei-Angaben zufolge brachten die Täter zwei Zettel mit einem abgewandelten Bibelzitat, das Homosexuelle verunglimpfe, an dem Denkmal nahe der Ebert-/Ecke Hannah-Arendt-Straße an. Zudem hätten sie versucht, einen brennenden Gegenstand auf das Denkmal zu werfen, was aber nicht gelungen sei.

The security guard alerted police but the suspect was able to flee. A criminal probe has been opened. The LSVD gay rights organization said in a statement it was “shocked by the incitement of hate” behind the incident, and by another act of vandalism against a separate Holocaust memorial the same night.
