Das Zentrum der Stadt Nashville im US-Bundesstaat Tennessee ist am Freitag von der vorsätzlichen Explosion eines Wohnmobils erschüttert worden. Man gehe von einer vorsätzlichen Tat aus, teilte die örtliche Polizei auf Twitter mit. Mindestens drei Menschen wurden leicht verletzt, sie wurden ins Krankenhaus eingeliefert. Kurz vor der Detonation gab es offenbar eine Warnung für die Anwohner. Die Explosion ließ Fensterscheiben zerspringen und Wasserleitungen platzen, umliegende Gebäude waren geschwärzt und die Fahrbahn von Ästen und Glassplittern übersät. Die Explosion ereignete sich um 06.30 Uhr Ortszeit (13.30 Uhr MEZ) und war noch mehrere Straßenblocks entfernt zu spüren. Auch Beamte der US-Bundespolizei FBI sowie die für Waffen und Sprengstoff zuständige Bundesbehörde nahmen Ermittlungen auf. Laut einer Sprecherin des Weißen Hauses wird auch US-Präsident Donald Trump über die Situation in Nashville auf dem Laufenden gehalten. Die Polizei riegelte die Innenstadt Nashvilles weitgehend ab. Bürgermeister John Cooper erklärte auf Twitter, die genaue Ursache der Explosion werde nun von der Polizei und Einsatzkräften des Bundes untersucht. „Es sieht aus, als ob eine Bombe explodiert wäre“, sagte Cooper in einer von WKRN übertragenen Stellungnahme. Die Polizei habe Sprengstoffexperten alarmiert und die Anwohner in Sicherheit gebracht. Spürhunde hätten das Gebiet nach möglichen weiteren Sprengsätzen abgesucht, aber nichts gefunden.
