Arizona attorney general investigating Trump’s rifle comments about Cheney

Arizona’s former attorney general Mark Brnovich, suppressed findings by his investigators who concluded there was no basis for allegations that the 2020 election was marred by widespread fraud. That’s according to documents released Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2023, by his successor, Kris Mayes. (AP Photo/Ross D. Franklin, File) Arizona’s attorney general office said they are investigating former President Trump’s comments about former Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.) as a death threat under state laws in a statement to The Hill.  “I have already asked my criminal division chief to start looking at that statement, analyzing it for whether it qualifies as a death threat under Arizona’s laws,” Attorney General Kris Mayes told 12NEWS in Phoenix on Friday. “I’m not prepared now to say whether it was or it wasn’t, but it is not helpful as we prepare for our election and as we try to make sure that we keep the peace at our polling places and in our state,” the Democrat said during a taping of “Sunday Square Off.” In Arizona, intimidating statements or threats can warrant a Class 1 misdemeanor or Class 6 felony which can result in up to 4 months to 2 years in prison. Cheney also equated the former president’s comments to a death threat on Friday in a post on the social platform X.  “This is how dictators destroy free nations,” she wrote. “They threaten those who speak against them with death.”

Hearing set for Monday after judge returns challenge to Elon Musk’s giveaways to state court

A judge on Friday rejected Elon Musk’s attempt to move to federal court a lawsuit challenging his $1 million daily giveaways to registered voters in swing states, enabling a hearing to proceed before Election Day.  Musk’s attorneys have accused Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner (D) of attempting to rush a court-ordered stop to the giveaways. By trying to move courts, Musk halted a Thursday state court hearing at which his attendance was required.  “The District Attorney wants this litigation to be a rushed stage play, and the attendant spectacle and attention that go with it. But this lawsuit belongs in federal court, where it can be decided soberly and in a deliberate fashion,” Musk’s attorneys wrote in court filings.  U.S. District Judge Gerald Pappert’s ruling remands the lawsuit back to state court, siding with the district attorney. A hearing was quickly rescheduled for Monday morning.

Russian fighter accused of war crimes in Ukraine in 2014 to stand trial in Finland

Yan Petrovsky, also known as Voislav Toden, is charged with fighting against Ukrainian forces as part of the neo-Nazi Russian unit, Rusich. A Russian combatant who fought in Ukraine in 2014 has been charged with alleged war crimes by prosecutors in Finland. Yan Petrovsky, who is also known as Voislav Toden, will stand trial in Helsinki for five suspected war crimes, said Finland’s National Prosecution Authority. The suspect — who has been in custody in Finland since entering the Nordic country in July 2023 — denies involvement in the crimes. Petrovsky has been under EU and US sanctions since 2022 for allegedly being a founding member of the far-right neo-Nazi paramilitary group Rusich, which is suspected of terrorism crimes in Ukraine and is connected with the Kremlin’s mercenary Wagner Group. “The charges are related to the suspect’s activities in a unit called Rusich, which has fought on the side of the Russian-backed Luhansk separatist region against Ukraine,” Finnish prosecutors said in a statement. In 2014, Russia went on its first invasion of Ukraine when Moscow sent its forces to Crimea and illegally annexed the peninsula within weeks. At the same time, Moscow-backed forces launched an attack on eastern Ukraine, starting a long-running armed conflict, forcing tens of thousands to flee their homes and leaving thousands dead. The two self-proclaimed so-called “people’s republics” in the Ukrainian regions of Luhansk and Donetsk declared unilateral independence in the same year, which hasn’t been recognised by Ukraine and the West. The Kremlin has also claimed to have annexed the temporary-occupied territories after its full-scale invasion of Ukraine in early 2022.

Finnish prosecutors have charged former commander of neo-Nazi unit Rusich, Yan Petrovsky, with five war crimes committed in eastern Ukraine in 2014, Finnish outlet Yle reported on Oct. 31. The charges relate to Petrovsky’s involvement in battles in Luhansk Oblast against the Ukrainian Armed Forces on the side of the separatists.Petrovsky and other members of his group are accused of killing 22 Ukrainian soldiers and seriously injuring four others. Additionally, Petrovsky is charged with actions that violate the norms of military law regarding “the method of conducting war and the treatment of wounded and killed enemy soldiers.” The charges are being considered as international crimes under Finnish law, Yle writes. Petrovsky cannot be extradited to Ukraine. Finland’s obligation to exercise its criminal jurisdiction also takes precedence over the jurisdiction of the International Criminal Court in The Hague, the journalists added.

“A SAD, HATE-FILLED MAN”: NEO-NAZI KEVIN GOUDREAU SENTENCED FOR BURNING STOLEN PRIDE FLAG, PAROLE VIOLATIONS

Longtime neo-Nazi Kevin Goudreau was sentenced to seven months after he stole a Pride flag from a neighbour’s house and burned it while yelling homophobic slurs. According to the courts, Goudreau stole a gay pride flag from his neighbour’s porch and burned the flag in his backyard around 2 am. During the burning, he began shouting homophobic slurs. A transgender neighbour reported hearing the commotion and went outside to confront him.  Goudreau called the individual a slur and was arrested shortly after. “In my view, it is readily apparent from Mr. Goudreau’s actions in burning a Pride flag while screaming “die f***t die” in a public location immediately outside a multi-unit dwelling that his conduct was motivated by bias, prejudice, or hatred,” Justice Stuart Konyer said in court.   “His conduct was vile, reprehensible and harmful to other members of the community, including the victims.”  Goudreau served 128 days of pre-sentence custody after he was arrested on the night of the incident in June 2024. He was already serving a 90-day intermittent sentence for a remarkably similar situation on March 31, 2022, when his upstairs neighbours, a lesbian couple, reported Goudreau circling the apartment building, shouting expletives, slurs, and threats.  “After opening a window and hearing the ‘Heil Hitlers’ and all that, it turned into like the threats of ‘f***t b***s, I’m gonna kill you,’ and really aggressive yelling,” one of the victims told the Canadian Anti-Hate Network at the time. Canadian Anti-Hate Network board member Richard Warman filed a criminal complaint against Kevin Goudreau for the March 2022 matter.

Austrian police officers suspended for Nazi message sharing

Two police officers have been provisionally suspended for allegedly spreading anti-Semitic and National Socialist in chat messages, the Vienna State Police Directorate confirmed on Thursday. The incident was discovered by chance on a civilian’s phone confiscated as part of investigations into Austria’s right-wing extremist scene in September, news magazine Profil reported. Messages with inflammatory, National Socialist and anti-Semitic content were found on the phone and, during the investigation, it was discovered that an officer from the Vienna State Police Directorate (LPD) had also messaged the owner of the phone. The officer, who Profil reported was assigned to the city police command unit, is said to have received and forwarded messages with Nazi content. Internal investigations later revealed that another police officer, from a station in Penzing, was also said to have disseminated similar content.

Drea de Matteo compares Kamala Harris to a ‘Nazi’ and predicts ‘civil war’ if Donald Trump loses

Sopranos star Drea de Matteo has boldly claimed that there are more parallels between Kamala Harris and the Nazis than there are with Donald Trump – after the former president was accused of praising Adolf Hitler as a man who ‘did some good things.’ The actress-turned-OnlyFans star, 52, launched a blistering attack on the Democrats during an exclusive interview with DailyMail.com in which she warned of impending civil war, accused President Joe Biden’s government of making an ‘aberration’ of abortion and gay rights, and claimed Americans want ‘politically incorrect fun again.’ The Emmy-winning actress argued that it was the Left and Harris’ campaign who are exhibiting Nazi party traits, just hours after announcing she had voted for Trump. ‘I feel like what [the Democrats] are doing is very dangerous where they’re pushing this narrative of continuous racism and the whole Nazi agenda,’ she said. (…) Posting a video response, de Matteo claimed he was messing with ‘the wrong breed of women’ and argued that it takes ‘a lot of balls to come out and support the anti-war machine while everyone else is pandering.’ The star – who played Adriana La Cerva on The Sopranos – claimed that aside from Roseanne Barr, she is the only actress publicly flying the flag for Trump’s campaign. She has no plans return to Hollywood after she turned her back on acting and joined OnlyFans in a bid to avoid losing her home.
