Activists protested outside the Melbourne gym on Saturday They claim gym is being used as base for right-wing activists. Dozens of protestors have descended on a gym in Melbourne, claiming the building is being used as a base for some of Australia’s most extreme ‘Nazi’ activists. The fitness centre in the city’s north-west was surrounded by protestors from the Campaign Against Racism and Fascism activist group. The protestors held anti-fascist slogans and chanted against the gym during the demonstration on Saturday afternoon. At one point, a lone gym-goer appeared to raise a middle finger at the crowd, before talking with police officers at the scene. The campaign group launched a call for action against the gym on Facebook, where they organised details for the well-attended protest. In the events description, the organisers wrote: ‘Migrants and Refugees Welcome! Nazi Gyms are not!’ Saturday’s protest was attended by a mix of refugee, migrant and LGBT+ groups. Ahead of the demonstration, Campaign Against Racism and Fascism claimed online: ‘On 24 December it was uncovered that Nazi’s have been organising out of a gym. ‘The National Socialist Network – a Nazi organisation … recently held an event… at the gym.
