The artwork was part of celebrations of the town’s Caribbean community Racist Nazi graffiti has been painted on a mural celebrating a town’s Caribbean community. The Street Art Trail was painted in Port Talbot on Friday but was defaced within hours. An emergency meeting was organised and the graffiti was cleaned up by members of the ARTwalk community group. The vandal painted swastikas, the words “Nazi zone”, and a severe racial slur on the artwork. It also included the numbers 1488, a code used by neo-Nazis and white supremacists to broadcast hate speech in a covert manner and to show their alliance with others in their movement. The mural had been painted to recognise the contribution of people from the Caribbean to the town.
