Facebook bans racist depictions of Jews and Black people

The social media company said it took action against 22.5 million pieces of content containing hate speech between April and June. Facebook on Tuesday said it updated its hate speech policy to include a ban on images of blackface and anti-Semitic tropes. The company said it changed its standards to “more specifically account for certain kinds of implicit hate speech,” including caricatures of Black people in the form of blackface and Jewish people running the world or controlling major institutions such as media networks, the economy or the government. Blackface is a controversial subject in the Netherlands and Belgium, because of the Christmas tradition of Zwarte Piet (Black Pete), a “helper” of Saint Nicholas who is typically played by a white person whose face is blacked up. The tradition has been criticized by activist groups for being racist. Justice Commissioner Didier Reynders, who is Belgian, dressed in blackface for a charity event in 2015 — an act he has not apologized for. The Flemish town of Aalst has also been criticized for racist depictions of Jews during its annual festival. Facebook has been under renewed pressure to do more to quash racism on its platforms following the killing of George Floyd, an unarmed Black man, at the hands of the police in the U.S. in May.

Wiley’s channels removed from YouTube following his anti-Semitic comments

Wiley has been removed from YouTube following his anti-Semitic tirade. The Wearing My Rolex rapper launched into an offensive tirade about the Jewish community last month, which included comparing them to the Ku Klux Klan and tweeting that ‘Israel is not yours’. It prompted an investigation from the Metropolitan Police and bans from social media sites Twitter, Instagram and Facebook. With few platforms to utilise, Wiley began uploading rants on his YouTube channel sparking further outrage. However, the account no longer appears on the website following mounting calls for YouTube to ban the grime star. Addressing the move, a YouTube spokesperson told Metro.co.uk: ‘Following repeated violations, YouTube has terminated Wiley’s channels from our platform.’ According to YouTube, two of Wiley’s videos around hate speech were struck from his channels and he was banned from uploading for seven days. However, he attempted to get around this by uploading content to a new channel.

U.S. Attorney: ‘Drug-dealing white supremacist stripper’ sentenced for obstruction of justice

A Dallas man was sentenced to federal prison Thursday for selling drugs in East Texas and threatening to kill his roommate with the help of a white supremacist group. According to the U.S. District Attorney’s Office, 28-year-old Collin Garrett Hayden was sentenced to 200 months in federal prison by U.S. District Judge Robert W. Schroeder, III. A federal jury found Hayden guilty on March 6 for obstruction of justice, and he pleaded guilty to possessing a weapon in jail before the trial began. The attorney’s office says in 2016, law enforcement began an investigation into methamphetamine trafficking from Dallas into East Texas. During the investigation, police caught Hayden and his roommate on an undercover recording offering to sell drugs to another person. Further investigation revealed Hayden sold cocaine in Dallas strip clubs where he performed and additionally sold meth to a Shreveport, Louisiana buyer. When Hayden learned of his pending federal charges, he reportedly turned on his roommate and threatened to use his association with a white supremacist group to have the roommate killed. While in custody at the Titus County jail, authorities say Hayden had a shank-type weapon and threatened to kill any guards who entered his cell, all in retaliation for a guard reporting Hayden for attempting to illegally get a cell phone by bribery.

Nazi sympathizer who used an AR-15 to shoot an unarmed woman fleeing with his swastika flag claims self-defense, gets bond lowered

An AR-15 toting Oklahoma man who shot an unarmed woman running away with his swastika flag is free on bail after claiming self-defense. Attorneys for Alexander Feaster successfully argued Wednesday that their client’s $500,000 bail was excessive, according to Oklahoma’s Enid News & Eagle. A judge agreed, reducing the 44-year-old shooter’s bail to $75,000 and clearing him to live with his mother until his trial begins in November. Feaster, an Air Force veteran, is charged with shooting Kyndal McVey several times after she allegedly removed the Nazi flag from his house and attempted to run back to a property across the street where she was attending a party in late June. McVey survived her injuries.

McVey was at a party across the street from Feaster’s house at around 3 am on June 28, when someone dared her to yank down one of his two Nazi flags, according to local police. As she bolted back to the party, someone yelled “gun!”— and Feaster opened fire with his AR-15 rifle, striking her several times in the lower abdomen and legs. She was hospitalized for several weeks but survived, and Feaster was charged with assault and battery with a deadly weapon.

#POLIZEI-SKANDAL – #Caffier will rechtsextreme #SEK-Leute rausschmeißen – #terror
